I put a £250 holding deposit on a flat and i'm supposed to be moving in today and the real estate agent rang and said "if you don't agree to pay an extra £100 per month then you can't move in and you will not get your deposit back"

But i suppose if you didn't sign anything agreeing to the price, there isn't alot you can do, but keeping the 250 sounds dodgy.

Have you read your tennant rights? I mean i have heard of losing deposits for the bond which is normally very low, but i have never heard of an agency actually threatening you with keeping your whole holding deposit. Thats a bit of cash to just hand over and give up without a fight.

Well they've now done a backflip and they are saying we can have the place for what we originally agreed to.

However I'm burnt and i don't want to deal with them because i think they'll be f**kers when it comes time to pay our bond back.

Anyhoo i've told them that due to their game playing i'm not moving in and i expect my holding deposit back or i'll take legal action.

Have you read your tennant rights? I mean i have heard of losing deposits for the bond which is normally very low, but i have never heard of an agency actually threatening you with keeping your whole holding deposit. Thats a bit of cash to just hand over and give up without a fight.

For some reason my pride does not allow me to walk away from money in a house situation.

Tennants don't have as many rights as landlords in this hell hole country.

Geez that sucks nicky!! We've just had some massive problems with our real estate but christ it sounds HEAPS worse over there!!
