Can't really find much info on him other than the fact he's 18 y.o. about 185cm, 78kgs. Didn't play much for the Bendigo Pioneers this season as he was injured??

Was best on ground in Eaglehawk's premiership in the Bendigo league, and someone on the Demonland forum compared him to Clinton Young of Hawthorn.

So there you go, an in-depth summary there :D

Rhys is a very good young player and has the right attitude to become an excellent AFL footballer. Once he is in the AFL system with the right coaches and guidance he could be anything.

Played mostly with Pioneers but also with Eaglehawk. Has played in their last 2 premierships/finals campaigns and was the best on ground in the Grand Final in 2007 as a 16/17 year old - winning the game for them in the last quarter.

Was invited to train with Richmond since the ND and played quite well in their practice match playing mostly forward and in the midfield.

Hope that helps.

Not so much a Clinton Young type more of a hit up medium forward, who could also play on ball.
Plays taller than what he is, quick and agile and has good set of strong hands.
Seems to be a very team orientated player who not only kicks goals but assists in many others.
He has hardly been mentioned in draft circles (to my suprise), but the demons might have snapped up a bargain.
Played on him this year and I rate him my hardest opponent (also played on Pat Dangerfield and Michael Still among others).

Good stuff :thumbsu: That's a big tick for him in my book. IMO often the best judges of a player are the guys on the ground cos they can provide a perspective that nobody in a grandstand can.

I agree with everything that has been said so far. I like the fact he's stood up on the big stage in a senior Grand Final and dominated. And I guess its also fair to say the Pioneers didnt have the greatest side this year (Rhys was actually the only player they had selected by an AFL club) and it wouldn't have been easy for him as predominantly a forward playing in such a weak team.
