Are we going to be fishing for more Richmond players at the end of the year?

Pattison was ok and looks a decent backup ruck, I think the de-Richmondization is working well but might take some some.

So given they have said they will be active in trade week is there any players on their list we could possibly use?

How about Jack Riewoldt?? Wouldn't it be interesting to have 2 Voldts. I don't think Richmond would be willing to part with him considering he is their main goal kicker.

I think we might be in a position to rescue Tambling and turn him into a real player. We need the run through the midfield and he needs a better team to protect him from getting a strong tag.

Thoughts?

After the way Polak contested on the weekend, I am amazed that Richmond don't play him. There is no way they will let Jack R go if he is able to keep Polak out of the team.

Still think we should have picked Nahas up, and he would be great in our structure. 7 tackles and 3 goals against Freo the other week.

Thought #2 and #4 were pretty handy for Coburg (not sure whether they are Richmond-listed).

The Saints picked Patto up knowing Hawthorn were keen. The Hawks would dearly love someone like him at the minute.

I have a known love for Nahas so biasedly pick him, he'd shit it in with proper structure around him, might be a pocket rocket but the guy can play the defensive game and would be another avenue to goal which we seem to be lacking. However, as if Richmond would get rid of him, they'd be pretty damned stupid to considering the "spuds" "Spud" and Wallace brought to the club who should go before he's even considered.

Would prefer Morton to Jack as well, Jack seems to enjoy sooking like a bitch this year instead of contesting so he's not mentally in the game when a sides losing or under pressure. Ultimately rtoo early for anything so we'll have to see who Hardwick keeps ad be very careful about pecking the corpse of those let go.

Is it too late to pick up Cousins? :D

In all seriousness, Richmond have some talented young players that would probably benefit from having a good structure of senior players to support them. Something they don't really have at Richmond.

Martin, Cotchin, Deledio and Foley would all look great running through our midfield. Can't see Richmond parting with any of them though. Nahas could be handy as a replacement small forward for when Milney retires.

There was alot of talk that we were into McMahon last season but backed away when JWS and Peake fell into our lap.

Any chance we have another crack after he spends a season in the 2's ???

Whilst don't want to necessarily go there (with McSanchez given some huge debate last time), it is obvious there has been a falling out with the Tigers - and I suspect anyone prepared to take over his contract won't have to part with much pick-wise.

I hope not. He will be 27 next year, I would prefer to pick up a new kid, or a mature aged recruit you is 3-5 years younger than that who is tearing it up in state leagues.

With the lack of draft picks over the next 2 years, I doubt Richmond will let too many folk go. Unless we pick up someone delisted, can't see them cutting a fairly youthful squad.

Would love to have Jack Riewoldt at the Saints. Would Richmond accept our first pick (probably somewhere in the early 20s) for him?

They would be crazy to accept that, they need all the key position players they can get. In fact, they need all the good quality players they can get their hands off, so they will not trade away players who have the potential to be a star.

You never know with Richmond, although I think you're right this time :)

McMuffin I don't think anybody would be keen on. He wouldn't get into our best 22.

Another option is Jackson. He looks one of their hard nuts and good mids but is part of the slightly older brigade.

I think they will be looking to keep more of the youth they have now 23 and under and trade the rest going for a long term rebuild.

We'd be looking at keeping the core youngsters:

Astbury, Nason, Connors, Deledio, Cotchin, Martin, Foley, Reiwoldt, Dea, Webberley, Post, Vickery.

The rest - fair game.

We'll be trying to target young kids on the fringes at other clubs I'd imagine.

We'd have to give up something decent for Roo Jnr. Would anyone entertain the prospect of giving up Stanley? Lotta potential there, but Riewoldt has performed at AFL level for a couple years now. More likely they would ask for McEvoy or Lynch though, and neither have shown as much as he has.

Roo at FF, Roo at CHF, Kosi in the ruck. That would be pleasing :D

hehe :p

I don't want us to be seen to be hoverring over the carcass of the RFC like vultures...

But, I dont think they will be letting Riewoldt go. Their plan will be to clear out older players who will play no part in a theoretical premiership challenge in 3 to 5 years time. This way younger players, some of whom are not as good as the older players they will trade, will not be held back in their development.

Cousins and Simmonds are the same age and despite their continued usefulness, may be forced out of the game because it is unlikely either will find a new club willing to risk a contract

Shane Tuck - ball magnet but can't hit a target
Chris Newman - current captain and seriously cool head - will probably stay
Jordan mcMahon - seeing out contract in the seconds
Kelvin Moore, Jake King, Graeme Polak are all on the wrong side of the age limit - and even Nathan Foley is marginal - but I expect them to hang on to him.

Of the rest... if they clear out a youngster, I would suggest that we wont want him either.

We'd be looking at keeping the core youngsters:

Connors

Do you think he will make it (aside from the obvious issue)? Despite the talent (big leap and huge kick), for all the touches he had on the weekend he seemed only to kick to the players who led into his preferred spots (suiting a left footer) rather than the best option?

I genuinely do, yes.

Breaks tackles like its second nature - is a beautiful, booming kick and although he lacked precision on the weekend - there's not much space on that Trevor Barker Oval unless you go really wide.

Is really taking the game on, probably at the Coaches request - he's hungry for the ball, puts his head over it and works his arse off.

I think an inability to handle alcohol is his only issue - otherwise he'd be very close to leading our B&F. He was a shining light in the first three rounds.

Maybe does need to look at other options and become truly two sided, but his right boot isn't the worst I've seen.

Fair enough - haven't seen much of the Tigers, but I remember seeing Coburg last year and mentioning he looked a handy type (kicked a few against Sandy) for the brother of one of our players!

No way to Jack, He's up there with the worst kick for goal in the leugue. He not really good at anything exept marking the ball and at that he's not brilliant.

I wouldn't be giving up Stanley for anyone, let alone Jack Riewoldt.

Stanley is going to be a star, one of the most exciting young talls in the competition. Guys that are 200cm and run like Stanley can, not to mention having great skills, don't come along every day and we would be mad to trade him.

Jack Riewoldt is just a run of the mill medium forward. He tries hard but he is nothing exceptional. He'd be struggling to get a game at most other clubs. We have Lynch who can play his sort of role anyway.

If I was going to look at getting anyone from Richmond then it would be someone like Nahas, I really rate him as a small forward and we will need someone to replace Milne when he retires.
