Seems the big fella is the big issue for the supporters right now, regarding whether it is time for him to move on and retire or to hang around for another year or 2. No I am hoping that this does turn into a name calling bitchfest and I apologise if it does but I think this issue to too important to the future of the club.

It's not Richo's fault. Its the blokes kicking it to him and the other forwards who aren't presenting.

If I see anymore bomb it high and hope Richo marks over half the other team i think I will cry...

So what if he can't kick straight, at least he is giving us a chance ... I bet you all wanted to have his babies when he snapped that goal over his head yesterday.

Didn't want to have his baby, but did have an urge to go out and buy a lotto ticket.

Richo has to share the blame. One of his worst games ever yesterday IMO. Was most selfish on a number of occasions, spilt some crucial marks he should have taken and that miss from 30mts out after playing on clinched it for me. Time is up. Let's move onto the next chapter in our sorry 25 year recent history.

I think the problem with Richo is he's a bit to demanding of the ball, if we could use him as a wide decoy and draw those 3 opponents he seems to have every game to the boundary, it would definately be a positive for the other forwards.

your kidding richo is still the best player at the club he carries the team week in week out would carlton collingwood or essendon needlessly throw him out no way as far as im concerned richo should stay until he not the idiots that run our club(thats the board and the coach) decides the time is right.

Just on a side note, did anyone else have the urge to either cry or laugh when richo was kicking for goal in the last quarter. He just didn't seem to notice a man was on the mark and wakelin could almost tackle richo he got so close.

It's not Richo's fault or the players kicking it forward either. It's the other 5 forwards not locating themselves in a spot which will provide an open forward line. Yesterday it was Brown, Deledio, Pettifer, Polak and Morton all standing on the spot and crowding the 50m arc. If they didn't scatter the arc then it would be a different story altogether

Is the most desperate tiger each week. Yeah he makes a few clangers but is one of the few that plays for the jumper. I reckon he should be used as more of a decoy these days or further up the ground and let Schultz, Reiwoldt, Hughes etc be the targets (not that we hit them)

I was looking at the forward line yesterday and a couple of things stood out.

The rest of the forward line needs to move and present! Of course the midfielders kick it to Richo...He's the only one actually making a lead half the time.

Richo needs to play smarter...if he's being double or triple teamed, move away and make space for the rest of the forwards rather than blocking up in front of goals...Yeah, I know, impossible dream, but it's what needs to be done.

(semi-related)

Midfielders need to run forward! Collingwood was running hard to get back and flooding whenever we got the ball, and where were our players? Jogging forward, roughly square with the ball. No wonder the ballcarrier was handballing and kicking square..that's where all his teammates were.

Hahaha I mentioned that to my mate at the time. Wakelin sorta stood to the side to stop him running around and Richo seemed to forget he was there.

our problem is that our half forwards tend to run into the 50 arc to often and crowd it. Another problem is the forward pockets stand to far from the goal square. So when the half forwards run into the arc, the our whole arc is scattered and way too crowded leaving no room for anyone to lead. Meaning the player kicking forward will either bomb in or stop and allow an even bigger flood to occur in the arc.

Look I see it this way, Richo is a legend and probley has another 3 year left in him under a good coach who can arrange the ideal structure for him.

But, do I want him to play on ...NO! The Richoline has not worked for 15 years and thats not because of him I don't think, it's more because dodgy coaches and VFL standard midfielders!

But the champion is now 33 and not part of our future, we needed to start over when Terry first came in and getting rid of Richo is the major part of starting over.

Get Riewoldt and Hughes in there and trial them with the vacant spaces made by the like of Bowden, Hyde Richo and Tivendale recruit back-ups for Hughes and Riewoldt. I just reckon give them a run without Richo there demanding the ball, see how they go. As someone early mentioned early if Richo does play on he has to play smarter, lead to the flanks and create space for the other players while attracting the usual crowd of 3 or 4 defenders!

Sort of. Also so many times when the ball was about to come in they would lead for 5 meters, then turn the other way lead, then go another way.

We need someone (forward coach?) to teach them how to lead! A strong lead from the goal square. No wonder the guy kicking to them gets confused.. I watched the forward 50 closely on Sunday to see where we were breaking down and time and time again I'd see the same problem.

Since the leads are weak and ill-directed the player with the ball either will handball/run around or just bomb it long. Neither really paid off.

I'd like to see a complete overhaul of the team.

No more Bowden.
No more Hyde.
No more Tivendale.
No more Pettifer.
No more Johnson.
And unfortunately, no more Richo.

He has been a great servant to the club. He always puts in and tries his heart out. He is the soul of the club.

But the club has NEVER looked like winning a premiership with him as our spearhead, as he rarely ever fires when we are playing the very best.
He has brain fades that stop him from being up there with the games elites.
In fact he has not got a "football brain" at all. He is a gifted athlete and one of the greatest contested marks of the modern era. Give him time to think about ball use and he stuffs it up, time and time again.

We need to quickly go to the post Richo era. That way we might play a better TEAM game than rely on an individual to get us over the line. Since he has been in the team, we have been the most one dimensional side in the league. Our game plan has not changed. This is despite many different coaches and assistant coaches and administrations. They can't all be preaching the same thing! My goodness even turning over most of the list has not stopped us from using the same game plan. Unfortunately, Rich is no Wane Carey when it comes to football nouse, or a Garry Ablett when it comes to pure ability so that hasn't even landed us in a grand final let alone having us win one.

So as heretical as it may seem, it's time to move on RFC.

Thanks Richo for the memories.
