Apparently Jack has been dropped for this weeks game. Would have thought he would have been given another week despite not having a big impact last week.

With thanks to Brooksy 88 on the main board:

Ins: Schulz White Polo
Outs: Reiwoldt Meyer Krakouer

Backs C. Newman W. Thursfield J. Bowden
Half-Backs A. Raines G. Polak J. King
Centreline B. Deledio S. Tuck C. Howat
Half-Forwards D. Polo M. Richardson R. Tambling
Forwards K. Pettifer J. Schulz D. Jackson
Followers A. Pattison K. Johnson N. Foley
Interchange K. Kingsley S. Edwards M. White G. Tivendale

Emergencies J. Riewoldt A. Krakouer C. Hyde

F*** Schulz must have impressed on the training track. Did bugger all to earn a recall so soon.

Others, pretty predictable.

Would like to have seen young Jack get another shot at it...but obviously Schulz's six goal haul from a million years ago against the Lions still in the back of some people's minds!

Hopefully Schulz will be revved up after being dropped, Happy to have White and Polo back and drop Krak and Meyer. (Although I didn't think Krak was that bad last week).

Didn't the burgers have a practice match last friday?

I havent heard any results but shultz may have impressed there

i dont think it matters. i dont see him in the future of the club. apparently he wants to stay at the RFC. hes not bloody well showing that atm.

Somehow I get the feeling the Polo maybe subject to a test and if he misses then I expect either Krakouer or Jack to come in.

good outs, glad to see krakouer gets dropped these days! Meyer needed to be dropped. Jack - I think it was obvious he is just too raw for senior football atm. Needs to work on moving around and presenting. Wont get away with plonking himself inside 50 and taking big grabs in AFL.

I can't beleive Jack would be dropped - thought he was decent last week, considering it was his first AFL seniors encounter

Perhaps Terry is packing it up already like Dennis ?

Operation Tank in full effect ?

Schulz was rubbish in the practice match. IMO he shouldnt have been dropped based on one bad game against the Crows anyway. Before that he had kicked atleast 2 goals in every game he played apart from the Eagles game where he kicked badly.

If we were tanking Jack would be playing every minute of every match. Nothing wrong with giving a young fella a taste at senior level, then sending him back to the VFL to work on the areas he needs to improve

Maybe the theory was to drop Sarge for a big game, (dreamtime) show him he can't just cruise, then promote Jack for a big game to give him a taste. The next week give Sarge another chance to see how he responds & give Jack a crack back at Coburg to watch him dominate.
Just a theory to explain this mess... doesn't mean I agree with it!

The question is;

When you have someone who is obviously a level above the VFL, but not quite ready or up to AFL standard yet, where do you play them ?

Do you drop Jack back to the VFL - for him to gain confidence and kick another 5 ?

Or do you persist with him in the AFL - so he can gain more experience via exposure and slowly adapt to the pace of AFL ?

Persist!

No one can honestly say they are suprised are they.he has been given a taste of the real stuff and he'll go back to Coburg a better player and will come backwith more hunger and determination. We want our young players to earn their stripes to wear the yellow and black, otherwise we'll have a whole new bunch of Ray Halls and Krakours celebrating 100 games they didn't deserve.

Jack's far from perfect though, and some of the things that work really well for him at VFL level won't go well at AFL level. Giving him a game to show him that so he knows what he'll have to improve on can be a very good thing. If he goes back to Coburg and shows he is working on those areas and playing good footy I'm sure he'll be quickly back in for Richmond.

Totally agree.
Was caught playing behind on a few occasions on Saturday and he also got into Richo's space a little.
He'll learn from that and will be back after having a taste.
