The meaning of Maradona to the Argentines is something absolutely incomprehensible for the Brazilians, even those of us that share many cultural features with them.

That a Copa Libertadores match has been postponed (to next week!) because of Maradona's death may make sense for them, but it is a completely alien concept for us.

Still, he was an absolutely astonishing footballer. Maradona combined great skills; a humongous soccer IQ; and plenty of street smarts.

It is a sad day for soccer, indeed.
