It still amazes me that both Barlow and Silvagni got to the rookie draft. Silvagni especially must have been looked at by every club, and twice by every Melbourne club. And while he has taken some development, he has contributed from day 1.

Yeah amazing. He is just calm under pressure, steps up to the plate and nothing fazes him, same with Barlow really.

Those traits must be one of the key attributes that we have targeted in our recruiting. Broughton, Lower, Barlow, Silvagni all exhibit that 'calm under pressure' playing style.

Hey Freo Fans,

Here's my two cents about a few things discussed.

Ah-Chee was looking the goods, but got destroyed by injury after injury. Never really got a chance to play any games at all.

Unfortunately, with the other players we have on our list, we just cannot keep all the kids on. The list MUST be culled, the game doesn't wait. Out of everyone, he's one of the few who just couldn't show enough to be retained over the others.

The fact that the Suns won the spoon should not diminish how good this guy is, or could be. Same goes with all the others we let go. He won't be a David Swallow or a Josh Caddy, but he's still untried.

The GC Bulletin has reason to believe that we might bring Coad on as a rookie, so not sure how that'll go. Bring him back on, if that makes sense. See how his injuries go and launch from there.

Regarding Lock, he was good stuff in the first couple of years, which is why he was made Captain. Great footballer. But this year has had some issues working out, as explained above. Then he never got selected because of those, thus he got more frustrated. Evil circle sort of thing.

Bluey said that Lock was let go from a lack of form and his body letting him down. That's rubbish, and anyone keeping up with the Suns Reserves could instantly tell you that. He was consistently listed on the best-players list, racking up possessions and kicking 2-6 goals a game. But the sprays he got at the breaks and the disharmony he had with the Coaches and players was very obvious. A little unsettling to the crowd, really. You can kick 20 goals for all they care, but if you're not doing the team thing then you won't get picked. I daresay this is the case with lots of sides, not just the Suns. Seems he just never got it together.

Would these issues be sorted out if he went somewhere else? I dunno. It could be a gamble, but at 21 he certainly has the makings of a good footballer. But if you drop him, watch out. :D

sounds a bit like the little clown over here who left Perth football club (I think it was)., because the coach told him he could do better if he applied himself a bit more. There are some precious little boys out there.
