:)It's generally agreed on this forum that the Tigers will be in the market for a ruckman of some description - be it experienced or young - come season's end.
Canvassing the options, wondering what you good folks' opinion would be on attempting to snare Will Minson from the Western Bulldogs, possibly in exchange for Jay Schulz?
We need a ruckman - Minson has shown some promise though seems to be stuck behind Street and Darcy (not sure how much longer he'll go on!). Bulldogs need a key forward and Schulz might fit the bill.
Simmonds would obviously be the no. 1 man in 2008, Pattison is a bit of spare parts man, while I'm relatively certain Knobel and Graham are not part of the plan, especially long term.
I would think a Minson-Schulz swap would be fair. Both have shown glimpses of promise and productivity and would be in a similar age bracket.
Thoughts?

(And please no talk of offloading the Krakouers, Hydes, Knobels, Halls, Tivendales, Moores etc. for Minson...we know they have no currency in the open market)

Surely we will delist Ray Hall and Trent Knobel at the end of the year. Angus Graham would be 50/50 at this stage to whether or not he will be retained as his final year on the rookie list.

This gives us only Pattison, Simmonds and maybe(probably IMO) Graham on the rookie list. If we get pick 1 we will take Kruezer, which gives us 3(4). Therefore I think we need to draft or trade for at least 1 more. Hopefully this is where we can get our hands on Meeson/Charman etc. I doubt either we fall through to the PSD, which means we will have to be willing to give up maybe pick 17/18 and a Schultz/Meyer type player to secure them.

Adelaide may take pick 18 and Schultz and give us there second round pick (25-30) and Meeson. Charman will be much harder to secure. I don't particulary won't Minson, however he will have to go for these lesser options if we can't secure a trade or PSD deal.

The 2nd worst thing that can happen is if we don't secure a trade meaning we have to keep Knobel/Hall for another season. If this occurs we will probably have to take another ruckman in the draft.

The worst thing is that we don't get Kruezer in the draft meaning we have to take probably 2 ruckman with highish picks that will take 3-5 years to develop, aswell as keeping on Knobel:thumbsd:

I suspect there will be a few clubs looking to draft ruckmen. Clubs will make space to accomodate the 6-7 ruck candidates and so there might be a move to trade or delist one.

Yep. A pecking order of Simmonds, Pattison, Kreuzer doesn't need too much tinkering with. Simmonds, Pattison, Renton almost demands an extra youngster as insurance.

With Hale and McIntosh pretty set at the Roos - Brad Moran might be gettable. 21 with an apprenticeship served might be worth a look.

Watched Angus Graham train yesturday with the main group. very tall, skills look ok yet it seemed he wasnt ready for the full contact in the ruck contests against simmonds and patto. needs to build up a bit of strength

Also just wondering, is Knobel injured at the moment? because he really didnt do anything on the track.

also i dont think Kruezer will be playing ruck for you guys, i think a key position in the forward line would suite him better than chucking him straight into the ruck against some mammoths

You sneaky bastard! It was a closed training session yesterday according to the RFC site!

Anymore info about training yesterday or anything of interest then??? Cheers.

Anyway back to your main post, yeah Knobel has a bung ankle that he just cant get right. I dont think he'll ever get it right, it's been a year so far.

Gus will need to hit weights hard in off-season but I think he'd be handy as the number 3 ruckman if he continues to improve like he has so far this year. :thumbsu:

Agree on Kreuzer, he wont be ready to hit the ruck right away but will probably play a few games there against smaller opposition ruckman to get started with his development. e.g. Hawthorn, Essendon, Carlton, Brisbane.

I would be very keen at trying to get Moran to the club. North supporters had massive raps on him pre-season. It really does open the options for trying to lure a ruckman to RIchmond. Charman, Meeson, Moran. I'd be pretty happy to have any of those 3 at Tigerland.

I was told by one of the richmond blokes (Not a player) that Gus "was put on the list last week" or something along those lines. not sure what he meant, has the kid been elevated recently?

All the blokes not playing this week didnt train with the main group all session. they went off and did sprints with pressure and also a bit of body on body work.

Not sure what else to post. No injuries and a not so intense training session.

No worries. Cheers.

Yeah he was elevated off the rookie list last week for Dean Polo.
