Hi Footy Fans...
This past weekend saw the 2nd Semi-Final Qualifying match at AAMI Stadium where the winning team would advance to the Grand Final, while the loser would get a second chance through the Preliminary Final. That's the subject for this week's SANFL wrap-up.
Sunday afternoon at West Lakes was the order of the day, where for the first time in a finals series Central District and West Adelaide would take part in the contest that would make up part of the Grand Final match-up.
The Bulldogs were jumped on early by the Bloods, with three goals in the first 15 minutes. But not to be outdone, the Doggies broke through the West defence with a four goal streak to be up by seven points at the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter was all Bulldogs with a 3.3 to three behind scoreline. Westies woke up in the third quarter, kicking 5.2 to 2.2 to bring the margin back to 13 points.
West made a run at the Dogs in the final stanza to come within one point of the lead. However, Centrals did not succumb to panic and made the opposition pay for every error. The Doggies kicking 4.1 to 2.2 to fend off the tenacious Bloods and send them to a sudden-death Preliminary Final to the tune of 18 points.
