It's been a win/win.

It enabled us to secure Mattner and retain a second round pick, Moore has stepped into Schneider's role and some would say have done it better.

No tears about his loss being shed by me, but glad to see him do well, he was likeable if nothing else.

Glad to see him doing well. The trade seemed to work out nicely for both clubs, win/win as someone said.

I'll say this for one last time!

This is what I think of Schneider! Bar one game against the Saints in the final!!

I loved him in our team because he could finish most of the time.
But...........................Schneider was never one of those players that could provide a spark whenever the team was having a bad day.
He would, however, quite often have a great game when the rest of the team was flying. He would leave his man & run forward & kick the odd goal. Against Collingwood is where he was given his departure ticket from Roos as far as I'm concerned.
The game against Collingwood last year where he played on a first gamer Irishman, Marty Clarke!
Schneider showed him no respect & he was torn a new a/hole in the first half of that game.

What Schneider needed to learn was how to provide a spark as would a Didak when other players are out of form. That's what was expected of him. To instigate things.
Again in the final against Collingwood last year. Clearly we had players carrying injuries into that game but Schneider was fit. When we needed him to stand up he didn't take initiative. Again he was a little loose. He wasn't alone that night, but this would be a problem that with Schneider, the coaches couldn't change.
Then just after half time when we had a little crack at the Pies before half time, MOL took a mark & hurt himself so couldn't take his kick. Enter Schneider, the man closest, to take the kick from 25 - 30 metres out, slight angle. He misses what he should have kicked. I can't remember the exact score but the resulting quick kickout went down the other end for a goal to the Pies. Then the avalanche! The rest is ..............well forget it.

Now he is at the Saints. But he is there as a finisher, running past for the handball to goal & he is performing that task to a treat, much to the delight of the Saints fans.

Good whilst the Saints are flying. But when they were struggling, questions were being asked of Schneider. I love the guy & sort of miss him.

But just wait for when the Saints have a bad game. He will be the most obvious one to blame.
He falls into the category of a forward that isn't defensive enough to lock the ball in the forward line. A key part in todays AFL football.

Watch the game against Geelong this week. They will make him look bad, real bad, if he doesn't become more accountable.
Last week against the Bombers is a game that people should ignore because even Milne kicked 7.
And I don't rate Milne at all!!

But good luck anyway Schneids.

Sorry if I've offended any of my fellow swans supporters with my thoughts but that goal he missed against the Pies.......................oooooohhh!
I can only think that Roos & co thought the same.

So over Schneider.

Not wrong..
Bet they weren't saying that in 05..

I am not anti the chubbey #13 from St.Scum,my son even had his number on his jumper THATS WHEN HE WAS A SWAN !!

Well now he has Vesz's number, who's a better player.

Vesz has GREAT defensive skills, and is like a Davis/Schneider + that little bit extra that makes him so excitable.

I'll admit, I was heartbroken last year to find out Dempster and Schneids were traded. Schneider was actually one of my favourite players, and he was the first guy to really get traded that I remember - remember I'm one of those bloody bandwagoners, my first game was the '05 Semi :p - and it tore me to pieces.

But as someone said, I'm a little over him now. I was at the Crows-Saints game, and cheered loudly when he got a goal, but that was about it. I looked out for him early in the year, and am always satisfied when he kicks a bag - I remember there was a game a while back where he kicked 5 in a BOF performance - but besides that, I don't really mind.

Mattner has got to be the recruit of the year out of all clubs, and Vesz has filled the hole Schneids left.

Welcome.

Pat's more than filled that role in just 3 or so games, we've discovered Jarred Moore and gotten Mattner as an important piece of the defense where if we hadn't we'd have been stuffed with Malch going down. Monty's been allowed more freedom in the midfield as he isn't bound by Schneids sometimes inept handling of the pocket. Oh + we've gotten a promising second rounder in Brett Meredith out of it.

Killed me to lose Seany and Schneids, but our club has more than replaced them.. we've gotten more out of our players because of it !

On a closing note;

He'll be half of what he was for us for you :)

The problem with players like Schneider, is they either need a defensive side to their game, or they always need to be in some resemblance of form.

You cannot expect a player like him to star every week, however, in the weeks he does not, he needs to apply defensive pressure.

When you have the ball on a string, you can let the defender worry about you. However, when the footy is not coming your way, you need to be disciplined and ensure your opponent does not get the footy.

Unfortunately, there were not enough great games to warrant the leakage from our forward line. Davis is much the same in this regard, and why he also is sitting on the sidelines (prior to his knee injury).
