Just watching the highlights from last Thursday i realised Jay Schultz did some very nice things coming out of the backline.
He looked extremely comfortable back there running off half back shooting out a couple of handballs.
Before the season started i wasnt to keen on him going down back but after round 1 it looks like he might do alright down there. Atleast he wont be getting in Richo's way all the time. It might save him a few trips to the hospital.

Big test will come when hes playing on some half decent fwds...

Still seems to have slow reaction time for mine, against well drilled, smart fwds I have a feeling he'd get turned inside out through traffic a fair bit.

Re: Schulz in the backline

Jay played a pretty good game I reckon, and that left footed pass to pettifer in the first quarter was class. He has the size, the skills, and the agro to make it, just needs to put a few performances together.

Should have been permanetly moved back years ago, far too lazy to be a forward. Thought he was great last week.

If you're too lazy to be a forward, you're too lazy to be a footballer - backmen would run around more.

The only point I can see you making is that Jay will be forced to run with an opponent making him more accountable?

I will reevaluate Schulz when he plays a consistent few games against a top 8 side. Hopes remain down.

Surely he is not going to line up at CHF .mind you haven't seen the official team for Sunday only Tiderboyz and on that he is CHF and Ritcho at FF ........nah cant be right Ritcho has got to be CHF ont' Schultz at FF.yaar das its goot.:confused:

Terry never puts the positions on the team shit. A couple of games last year he had Richo starting in back line and Newman at fullback:rolleyes:

adds some much needed bulk to the side, needs to replicate that performance:thumbsu:

I guess that is the point i was trying to make. When you are a forward if you dont work hard enough, you just dont get the ball kicked to you very often. As a backman the work you do is dictated by the forwards you play on and you no choice but to try and go with them. Joel Bowden went from an unaccountable lazy midfielder to a duel AA defender. Maybe some players just need to be responsible for an opponent.
