If you wanted Seaby would probaly get him for a third rounder, which isn't worth much this year.

He is a left hander so he does give different angles with regards to his taps.

Has been good for us in the past two games, before that was in sensational form in the WAFL.

Always been a good tap ruckman and a great mark, it was his work around the ground which let him down.

Has been much better around the ground last two weeks than last year.

Just keep watching him as it looks like he will play the rest of the year, and see if you like him.

Article in the herald sun today saying that Seaby wants out of W.C and is looking to become the number 1 ruckman at another club... only 25, can play forward. worth looking at? I think so...

Can you eplain why we would a) want hime or b) even need him?

NO!

Could a mod please lock this thread?

Yes and cards given to people who continue to start threads about trading for fringe players.

Seaby is no good, West coast almost prefer to play Nata one out than play him or have lynch pinch hit in the ruck. Jamar has come on leaps and bounds this year, Meesen has showed his capable at AFL level whilst johnson has stagnated this year but we know he can play decent footy at AFL level. Seaby will no improve our ruck stocks or the side 1 bit.

I think everyone gets a little excited too easily and followed cliches like sheep.

At one stage during 2005-2006 you could easily argue that seaby would be the best #2 / backup ruckman in the competition. He was good at the stoppages, could take a mark up forward and could kick goals.

He had a bad run of form and fell out of favour and got banished to the WAFL and was immediately labelled a hack.

He was preferred to Warnock last year (Carlton gave up a pretty early pick for Warnock) in the WAFL before Warnock sooked and forced Freo to play him and has been in very good form this year. His last two games for the Eagles haven't exactly been bad.

WCE know we won't get much for him, i think Melbourne could get him very cheaply and have a realible ruckman while they develop their youngsters.

Well yeah, except that Jamar, Meesen, Martin, Johnson, and Spencer even, are all better in the ruck than he is right now.

But hey, if there's anything we desperately need, it's a 6th-string ruckman isn't it? I mean, you never know when a repetition of the Munich '58 air disaster might occur :p

Seriously, you can't pick players based on what they once WERE, more than a couple of years ago, or keep them in the side on that basis - that's why Bell isn't likely to make the cut at the end of this year.

Oh please.

PJ sucks monkey testicles.

Spencer (although very raw) has spaghetti arms and ******* legs with bugger all skill, I don't see him going far and let's not forget that so far this season every time he's played he's found a new way to cripple himself in games and the last thing we need is an injury prone ruckman.

Meesen is an unknown and you are overestimating 2 games worth of promise he's shown for us, remember this bloke couldn't crack a game last season and was stuck playing VFL Reserves for the most part.

Martin is doing pretty well as a pinch hitting ruckman but I don't think we can rely on this as a long term solution, he was looking extremely good as a promising backman and I think that's the ideal place for him.

Jamar would be our best ruckman with Seaby 2nd, it's a mystery that you can say he'd be a 6th string ruckman.

And seriously, you can't pick players based on 2 games that they played after not being able to crack a senior game the last season (eg Meesen).

I was indulging my dark side with the 6th-string/Munich comments I admit, like I'm guessing you were with the bit about the monkey and the spaghetti ;)

But seriously, I find it hard to see Seaby getting any better than he currently is, and his best form is some way behind him. For PJ, his best form IMO was in 2008- not quite so far away, and it's not so improbable to suggest he could return to that level.

Basically, yeah, you might be right about Spencer, although Meesen's performances before the LTI this season were pretty convincing to me. I'm looking forward to seeing how a Jamar/Meesen pairing might perform next year.

In all seriousness, I think the most that Seaby would be with us is a depth player, and I'd think we could get someone like that in the draft more easily, if need be...

Ok, I think firstly, we are all in agreement that Martin is going to be our back up ruckman for years to come. He can pinch hit well in teh ruck, and also plays well down back (and I personally think can develop into a very, very, handy forward and a horror matchup with his athleticism).

So we need a topline ruckman, and a reserve ruckman. I think Jamar has earned a bit of faith and at least the job as the reserve. I don't see Seaby as a major improvement over him at all.

We need a gun ruckman (if we had of lost that ****ing game in 2007 we'd have Naita) not another second tier ruckman.
