Tried to balance out the forward line in the junior squad because it's incredibly tall, but there wasn't much room for movement.

So based on that, we're pretty much set in a lot of areas except key defender. Multiple options everywhere except for that really.

It's a tough exercise with the Saints, and they have (post Lyon of course!) shown a clear willingness to address the list issues in terms of age - Wilkes, Saad, Milera, Dunell (2011) and T-Bone, Kenickie and UDL (2012).

By the time Gilbert (as an example of an older player) retires, we could have any number of replacements - including AFL proven players traded in if required and some of our stronger young prospects with 2-4 seasons under their belt (there are AFL players in that crop, not just wishful thinking).

When I see the likes of McEvoy and Saad on our senior half I wonder what everyone is worried about.
I also consider that someone like DalSanto could continue to be a useful player for another 5 years ( given that he's never been injured in his life).

Also Dal Santos game is heavily based on football i.q and skills, and rarely relies on his athleticism, so I believe he could play well into his 30's.

Technically, that younger team would suffer from the same thing every young team does - they would blast away from the older players for about a quarter with their pace and enthusiasm, but then would run out of puff, especially as they started to get their soft little bodies pummelled in tackles and contests.

That's why it's going to be great to see these younger players be blended in, for 3-4 game stretches, just like we did last year with Newnes, etc.
