terry wallace was just on sen & said that titch edwards is having a great pre-season and to watch out for big step foward for the kid.
got me thinking, it may be a bit far fetched but this kid has shown a fair bit in the time he has been at puntroad & even that flog walls seems to rate him highly.
shane edwards ..................180cm tall,70 kg ,20 years old, 30 odd games
daniel kerr..........................178cm tall, 77kg ,25 years old, 155 games

kerr learned alot of cousins & even said in a recent interview how cuz helped him adjust and learned alot from him.

the question is now the cuz is at the tigers & titch has done his apprentaship he has by reports put on a bit more muscle & had a good pre season. does he have the potential to become the next kerr.

Lets not jump the Gun. (Sorry poor Pun)

I think Titch will surprise a few this year but it'll take a couple of more years before he can reach the heights that Kerr has.

I highly doubt it.

If he learns to run to smarter positions on the ground - instead of running to every single contest and wearing himself out - then the only other obstacle stopping him becoming a genuine gun is how much his kicking improves.

Atm he's a flashy 15 possession player with serious football smarts and evasive abilities.

Anyone with a bit of 'magic' about them and bucket loads of footy smarts has the potential to be one out of the box. Shane Edwards atm I guess is a bit like a Daniel Kerr, but he doesn't think about where he's going as much, more sees the ball and instinctively runs towards it.

Kicking would improve if he stops running to contests he'd never make.

I also have doubts he can consistently get 25 possies a game, he's always been a low possession getter.

yes everyone is having a good pre season now we just need them to translate that onto the field.

from the above.. I agree...with needing to get to the right position on the paddock. I also think he does need to improve his kicking. ......he certainly has potential, and yes a big pre season helps......not so sure he will be in the Kerr class.....but if Cuz can help him get fit, so that he can see out a whole game, this should improve his effort.....Hoping for a bigger season then last year........

Atm he is HFF. If he puts on some muscle I could see him rotating through the midfield. He is a natural footballer and he will turn into a very good player but I think it is a bit early to be calling him the next Kerr.

Not a bad thread , although optamistic I think you could be onto something. Edwards is a very dangerous player and will come on in leaps and bounds this year. he will get his time on the ball like he was given last year and is determined to bulk up. Kerr came on alot earlier than Edwards but in a good side and had plenty of space and Cousins and Judd had the tags. This year is exciting times for Edwards and I'm sure he is going to be a house hold name after it.

is the 70kg before or after. i think he was 69 (kg) before, wasn't he? For me, his is another the "focus" and "awareness" re-balance that i had "lectured" on previously.

Hope he shows me up and has a blinder of a year. Agree with others that it'll be a few more years before he gets to his best.

always rated this kid, from the first game i saw him play. Not afraid to take players on, has that touch of class, the elusive skills and i see him as one of our top players in the future.

edwards and connors are my guys to watch over the next couple of seasons:thumbsu:

The kid will be a gun.

No doubt about it.

He's not a foward, he's a midfielder and the more he's played there the better he will get

Exactly. Always thought the same. He is definately a midfielder; a natural footballer who needs to be around the ball and action. He is wasted in the fwd line. The fact that his endurance and running ability is elite makes him even more of a weapon playing onball. Just wish his kicking was better, a big weakness of his. Really looking fwd to seeing Terry playing him onball more.

GO TIGES!!!

I really like Edwards and have always thought he'd be a player, but on more than one occasion I've had horrible flashbacks of Clinton King when he's kicking the footy.

That's more than a little harsh Razor , Clinton King only made it onto another list?,
sh** if i had a real explanatory reason that the RFC could back up then i would oh yea that's right he trains hard , (But then again so did Ted Kaczicski) he's good for the boys, if we stopped training hard then Clinton King, Robbie Powell, Greg Tivendale, Chri nHyde and The other King who's not King in the Kitchen would still be playing for us.

I like the kid but Kerr....dear oh dear!

He will really have to improve his set shots for goal as he simply missed far too many gimmes last year.

Was playing really well before he was dumped by Millburn against Geelong.

IMO he has ticked all the boxes that TW put in front of him. Was given on the ball duties last year, after his initial introduction as a small forward option.
His kicking? It dont look like its by the book, but it hits its mark most of the time. He knows where the goals are in any given situation, he knows where he is and if a side step will get him some time, in any given situation and last year, was hitting the packs as hard as anyone without any thought about what was coming his way. That from a what? 19 yld? come on dude, this kid is going to be the bargain of a life time for us, to go with the Axel bargain. Super smart player, that will set up plays with his poise under pressure. Keep your eye on him in the heat of battle, he doesnt get phased and allows his class to steer him out of the fire. ;)

the thing that really makes me take notice of titch is the fact that he constantly hounds the opposition players when he is close to the opposition player with the ball & 2nd , 3rd efforts are great aswell.
d.kerr was very thankfull to cuz for showing him the work ethic thats required to become elite,
you cant help but feel that the same is going on at puntroad atm
and players like edwards, white, tambling, collins, connors even hislop & thomson will be benefiting from this.
the thing to remember is titch is just 20 years old not even kerr was briiliant at that age & he had the likes of cousins, judd etc around for help.
i think that once he has built the motor up,& another 20-30 more games behind him he will become something special.
