Doesn't get too many wraps around here generally speaking. But I doubt even the biggest naysayers could deny his awesome season thus far, in particular the past month or so.

Flyer Tuck

IT’S AS though Shane Tuck has become an overnight sensation.

In 2012, the football industry is overwhelmingly glowing of him and even the key football department people at his own club, Richmond, have fallen in love.

Contested possession star. Clearance gun. Ball magnet. Tackling machine. Crucial to Richmond’s resurgence.

A full 149 matches into an AFL career which began nine years ago, he’s suddenly made it in the eyes of everyone.

Well done to Tucky to overcome all the obstacles that have come his way in the past 2-3 years. Shows how far a lot of hard work and persistence can take you.

Lets hope he has another good'un in his 150th :thumbsu:

(point of interest: his average tackles this year is almost double his career average)

Absolutely stoked for the man. We can argue til the cows come home about whether he should have been a regular in '10 and '11, but it should be clear to all that he has improved a huge amount so far this season. I genuinely see no reason why he can't be part of the side for the next 3-4 years. Really deserves the plaudits he's got this week. Hope we have a win for him.

Have to say we were basically shit (but building) both those years. We've been saying it about Lids for years, but as a team rises all the players look better. Tuck has been a great contributor for a long time.

One of the things I love about Dimma - he was wrong about Tuck and has clearly acknowledged it, and is now using him to his best effect. A great example of a coach that can learn and change his opinion - and a player who can fulfil the limited but effective promise.

Well done Tucky. :thumbsu:

God I hate this crap , he didn't make a blue , Tuck has simply improved on deficiencies he needed to address , which is credit to him . But I think Dimma also deserves some credit for having the balls to send him to Coburg to work on his weakness which has seen Tuck return alot better footballer .

Possibly my favourite player. The supporters that continue to talk him down do so mostly to avoid admitting they were wrong about him. Like many others.

Well done Tucky.

God I hate this crap..... He hasn't changed his style.... he has played the same since he joined the club. Sure every player at the club has had to "change parts of their game" except they had the luxury to do it in the seniours??? this is Dimma's main mistake.... not believing Tuck could actually "change" the way he plays in the senoirs whilst sharing the luxury like everyone else....

Congrats Tucky..... I know when you run out we have a better chance of winning then when your not in the side.....

The end result has been a better more rounded player, which I reckon when sent back to Coburg was one of Dimma's wishes, mission accomplished.

Good luck Shane and all the best , currently in career best form.

In that case if he is now clearly more rounded would you care to explain what aspects of his game has improved....

Waiting for statesments that include " improved obvious deficincies"....." His defensive side" .... "his disposal"...... etc.... etc....

Take alook at any game pre- Dimma and its the same Tuck..... nothing has changed except Dimma's perception of him.

The difference in the way people perceive him is remarkable. people were thinking he should be cut from the list because he was 28 and not in the firsts - the whole youth bullshit.

I've always been a fan of his work. a very late bloomer, just like his Dad. congrats on 150, hoping he's got a few more season in him yet.

What a cedit this fella is to the guts, determination he has shown to bounce back when he was effectively relegated as secondary to this clubs future. He is a vital part of the NOW, am wrapt for the bloke and the commitment he has always shown to the Y&B..go hard tiges and make it a memorable one for tucky:thumbsu:

As I said in the other thread, Tuck himself has admitted that he needed to work on the defensive side of his game. As pointed out in the OP his tackle stats for this year are nearly double that of previous seasons, coincidence, I think not.

As for the milestone, not afraid to admit that I thought he was gone the last 2 years but am glad that he has gone away and changed the way he plays and now finds himself as an integeral part of our midfield.

Tuck has averaged 3.7 tackles a game for 149 games. Led 2010 with 103 after missing the first 2 games.... tackling has never been a weakness.

Oh` and exactly what were those deficiencies? Exactly how is he different from 2009 to last week?

Well done Tuckie:thumbsu::thumbsu: :thumbsu::thumbsu:
