Ok I have a thought.

When all this blows over there will be some fallout. As I've mentioned I have heard something from the inside of the footy department on Tuesday night (or was it Wednesday, this week as been a blur!!).

Anyhow what was volunteered, without me asking, about this whole thing is that Hird is not 100% happy with Thompson. He might get pushed from this. He just isn't bonding with players and not getting in and coaching the players at all.

If this was the case I have a great idea. Hird will be in his 4th season coaching next year, despite not being experience before this he should have the hang of it by then, and even though Thompson hasn't coached as much as they wanted him to he would have passed on enough to Hird. Hird also has some fantastic assistants and could perhaps do with another experienced one.

On top of all this Corchran is totally suited to running the footy department, with Alesio also in charge. If Corchran and Sheedy can bury the Hatchet then this would be the time to bring the great man back to the club. Enough time has passed and he's finished his gig in Sydney. It would be great for him to be around the club to spruik us in the press and just be someone around the club who can give Hird encouragement and the occasional tip to other coaches and the players.

Madness I know! I'm just brainstorming now. Anyone else think there could some merit to this?

I'd love Longy to get a job at the club too!!

Simple philosphy. If you're a living LEGEND at the club then we'll invent a job for you!! You can never have too many legends around!!

There are some things that are coming out of this story that i find just as interesting as the drugs.

The incredibly low testosterone of our players and how a dr who looked at the blood work told us we would have injuries, and hird's relationship with bomber.

The fact none of this has come out during the year shows we have at least stopped the leaks the old regime had.

Elite levels of output lead to testosterone, HGH, hemoglobin and other measurements of strength and health to drop. Just like studying for a few hours every day makes you smarter, too many hours each day and you get worn out!!

Oh yeah Im not questioning it more like happy that im learning why we had so many injuries, this is the reason. Im not very well versed in the physical health side of the injuries so i found this an interesting point that by looking at the players blood the Doctor could tell what was going to happen.

Also kind of shoots every single trolls/media personality argument in the foot that we were "doping" to decrease injury rehab time. Our injuries took longer to heal than "normal". Hell we had a thread on it during the season with a mathematical bloody formula for how long they would be out. If we really were doping, or this dank guy was giving these players things to help rehab...they were doing sweet fa.

Would not be surprised in the slightest if every drug that we have been linked to has been the result of a Google search of "soft tissue" and "drug"

In a weird way i wish if this was ever to happen it happened 10 years ago when sheeds WAS around. I dont believe the club or anything would have been able to stop him leading the media on a merry song and dance.

It's an inspired OP but I just can't see that happening.. and I'm not sure I'd want to see it happening anyway when I really think about it.

Heard a lot of people talking saying the Bomber/Hirdy relationship isn't that strong. I would expect this year to be the last year that Thompson is with us.

In light of all the shit, no matter the outcome, I'm all for Hird seeing out the rest of his contract without Thompson.

If he gets the opportunity, that is.

No to Sheeds, though. I love the man, and he will always be in the top, what, 3 or 4 legends of the club, but that would be something of a regression.

The one part of the the origional press conference that sticks in my mind is Hirdy looking shell shocked (they all were I know) & saying to "be honest I don't even know why I am here" (or similar)

My gut feeling is that what ever the outcome of the investigation, Hirdy will take this very hard personally in an "I'm to blame type" of way and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he resigns.

I hope I am wrong, but I seen a very proud man who came back to the club he loved for the very best reasons, asking himself, what the hell is going on here, what have I done to my club.

I agree that it is a possibility.

But along with his 'take responsibility' mantra, he's also insanely competitive and driven.

Why else would he leave a cushy retirement to take on one of the worst jobs in the world?

I'm 50/50 if the club is found to have administered PEDs as to whether he'll stay. If we haven't, then I don't think he'll go.
