Shock Matthews sacking

The Brisbane Lions today announced that due to shocking losses so far this season that Matthews will be replaced as coach by the Lions social club.

A spokesperson said today that they are confident that the members can do the job & turn the clubs fortunes around.

"The more they drink the more they know" said the spokesperson. "They have shown tremendous insight & knowledge that frankly none of the 16 AFL coaches could match"

Dulcie a social club regular said that anyone with a brain could do a better job than Matthews. What would he know anyway? she said.

Dulcie said they coaching plan revolved around shouting a lot & never EVER dropping Bradshaw to the reserves, even if he does nothing the whole season. Also players would be forbidden to get injured, kick a behind, miss a tackle, fail to take a mark, fail to gain possession from the bounce or lose a game.

Also, we will complain about the umpires alot, said Dulcie as an afterthought...that will really make a difference.

Before you get all hot & bothered, I am not saying a coach should be beyond criticism, however a 4 & 5 record coming from 16 in the previous year should be what matthews is judged on at this stage.

It's only rnd 4.

By the way - it's a bit of the chicken & the egg thing, however to my mind how is it being outcoached when 2 Lions defenders with not a Tiger within 20 metres collide, fall over & the Tigers pick up the loose ball & kick a goal?
