For the first time in my life I feel that a flag is gettable, and it's this year, not next year. I know we have two first round picks up our sleeves and a list that is age appropriate, but I think 2018 is going to be a harder challenge compared to what we have on our plate right now.

I think the Dustin Martin talk is bordering on celebrity obsession, Dion Prestia talk is depressing to say the least, and list assessment is over the top. But on the flip side I think a single finals win could derail the train if the fans and media put enormous pressure on the guys, my fear is an elimination final win will be talked about like a GF win and following it up will be frightening. I want to assume that the players are above that and can focus, but in reality they are human just like us.

I think we should put the lid on the pressure cooker, lower the heat, stop arguing over shit and support a team that has a real chance to make a memory this year.

Brunch out.

Isnt that what this site is for? People to debate and discuss player decisions, form and list management....
Without it this site would be a bit boring if we were only allowed to say go tigers on every post

dude this is richmond

there will be immense pressure on the club going into a final, and it will exponentially grow each week after.

pretending otherwise is an exercise in futility, and pretending this forum can add to or reduce it somehow is hilarious

Can't control the media, but hey, they are paid per click these days and if not it's old fashioned bolded headlines scraped from the gutter.

I just think that a lot of the party leftovers will be in effect next season. As in, where is Dusty playing?, is Prestia missing another preseason?, is Levi Casboult our new Maric?, blah, blah, blah. I think it's time to realise this could be the first year for the majority on here to witness something worthwhile and stop bickering over horseshit.

We could go the whole way on the first date.

Simmering down is probably my default position anyway. I tend to only get over emotional and abandon all pretense of logic when I'm actually watching the game. For the big bit in between the games, i.e, the rest of the week, I'm probably as level headed as a Richmond fan could possibly be. In saying that, I completely agree with my fellow bruncher.

We can win it this year.

We have to actually lock ourselves in to the finals first, but I see no reason why we can't do that. It's the way we play that gives me cause for my simmering optimism. A game plan built around pressure and work rate, with a fortress like backline as our anchor (which is at least the equal of any other back six in the league), will serve us very well at the sharp end. We just need to straighten up in front of goal. We have flaws, but so does every other team this year. Our next challenge is putting away an inferior opponent away from home, which is something we've sucked at in the past. Get past this week, and then the Hawks/cats double presents itself.

Bring it on. I'm enjoying the ride...it just doesn't appear so when the game's actually on. And just my gold sovereign's worth, it doesn't matter if pinetree has been here for literally 5 minutes, or has got here from Sassafras via Nantes. His opinion is as valid as the next person's. I didn't feel like he was telling everyone to simmer down, I just took it as a friendly suggestion.

Okay, that's done. Is it b***chtime yet?

?
Exactly, more meant like, you can't see the forest for the trees. As in it's the clubs job to sort out whether a player like Martin will stay or go after this year, what we do with our picks after this year, the coaching positions after this year, recruiting another forward after this year. I'm not suggesting that there should not be analysis whether it's positive or negative and of course discussions on future planning. I just think as fans and supporters if we think too far ahead we could waste the feeling of this year, which is a real possibility to be one to remember. The simmer down reference was more that instead of pots and pans going everywhere and fans stressing, we should just put attention towards this season in a pressure cooker, lower the heat, and soak it up.
