I thought sniper elite 2 was one of the most underrated games of the past few years. It had a core mechanic and it did it really well. It wasnt trying to be a shooter/RPG/open world hybrid.

Ad you got to see Xray vision of a Nazi's testicles being vaporised. Perhaps it was gratuitous.

The next one comes out in a month. You should get it.

Also it once again has the gold standard of DLC. Not a new coat, or hat or a new attachment on some gun.

It lets you kill Hitler. How can your DLC top that?

*There's been some other snipey snipe franchise floating around the last few years. I cant remember what its called but I played it and the less said about it the better.

Nevertheless, I'm very keen on this game, only reason I haven't bought it yet is the ridiculously high prices; I understand it's a "next-gen" game, but $90-100 is so out of the question. Also tried the Big W website but they only had it for XBone? It was $70 odd there, so might try get in there this week and see if they have a PS4 version.

Some good reviews for this, some not so good reviews, but all I know is it looks very appealing to me. Have loved the gameplay footage I've seen so far. Anyone on BF playing this?

Still havn't picked this up yet but have seen some streams on Twitch. I have moved on from Watch Dogs to Wolfenstein (Until they fix that Social Lubricant Trophy) so as soon as I finish Wolfenstein ill be picking this up. Can't wait, it looks good.

I was looking for this thread last night! Have played through the first mission and a half on this game, still forming my opinion. Solid enough game to be enjoyable, plenty of different ways to achieve each objective with a good level of optional objectives to keep the achievement whores happy. As they say, it's kinda like Assassin's Creed, without the Assassins or the Creed.

Graphics are good, sun reflections are an important part of this mechanic, and the sniping element is enjoyable, particularly if you try it without the assists on. I might go back and try it without any assists after I've finished a couple more missions as I think that would really change the way you play the game entirely. You'd pretty much save your rifle for key objectives and nothing else, for fear of bringing the entire Afrika Corps down on you if you miss.

The non-sniper parts of the game are kinda so-so, it's a lot of sneaking around AI enemies who are not that smart, and avoiding contact - which if you accidentally initiate, all you need to do is run away and wait 2 minutes for everyone to totally forget you were ever there and go back to the same spot they were standing 5 minutes before. Also, you can walk straight past someone when their back is turned and they won't notice you but drop a body on the ground 20 metres away and all of a sudden their Spidey senses are tingling. It would have been nice if they didn't make every single sniping spot so damn obvious and conveniently place a noisy generator on top of every high tower with a view of the whole map.

For a Sunday afternoon time-waster I give it about a 7.5 out of 10. For something that's going to capture my attention and make me turn on my Xbox it's about a 6.7. Will likely finish but only if something else fails to grab my attention in the next couple of weeks. It might get more awesome as I get further into the game, like Watchdogs.

I love the way it looks, the setting is great imo. I heard also that the AI is pretty average and about how you can run away for a few minutes and come back as if nothing happened. I wonder if they'll patch that, or if it's like that on the hardest difficulties.

Anyway, still keen, but still waiting for a price-drop. Unless I win a few grand on the punt this weekend.

A very fun game. Setting not as enjoyable as Europe though.

The core mechanic is a welcome change of pace from twitch shooters. A few too many invisible walls and dodgy AI but you can't say nailing a Nazi from 200 feet isnt damn fun.

Also the Fallout style save system is much better than the usual checkpoint stuff.

I really enjoyed number 2.

Nice slow paced sniper game, very different to the run and gun of BF.

I do like the sniping missions in games like COD the best, is this like that? Lot's of stealth etc?

Number 2 was yes. Try and take everyone out silently. The slow motion kill shots are great too.

Yes, plus many gratuitous slow mo nut shots. I've heard from people that played it (and liked it) that they thought the setting was better in 2 though.

I have wanted this game since it came out but just thought full price was a bit much. It's been $88 for ages, saw it for $45 a while ago on PSN but went back to full price, so if it's $25 I'll definitely be getting it.
