I know you guys are angry about friday night's game and rightly so, but I couldn't help but notice some smart work by Ross Lyon from the box.

  • Starting Milne on a wing/on the ball in the 1st, then just slowly drifting towards half forward unnoticed. Brought us unstuck once or twice.
  • Having Blake run in the midfield from the first bounce. We showed him no respect whatsover up until quarter time.
  • During the 2nd quarter when you guys had a shot on goal, Steven King positioned himself in the forward pocket, about 25-30 metres out, 45 degree angle, meaning that Ben Hudson couldn't go to the goalsquare for the punch. I think it either went through or one of your guys marked it.
Give Ross a chance, on matchday his work can great goals.

Don't forget Riewoldt starting on a wing. Roo has an aerobic capacity that will burn off 90% of defenders who can match him in the air, so it is a tactic that will work more often than not.

Unfortunately (or fortunately) Morris is a freak who can actually stick with him.

thanks guys. we are angry. I am upset that we sent that message to the rest of the league that we can be rolled over. luckily we have a chance to set it straight against the cats.

just reminds me of a massive loss to the hawks in 98 that turned our successful run into a horror one that included tim watson and other such decissions!

Oooh .... no .... don't compare it to that.

The Milne one was working until for a quarter until Hill started finding the ball. Then it ended up costing them massively as they never changed the tactic. Bailey should of adapted. I think he is a good coach but that play cost them the game.

with a 52% goal conversion rate (not including Out Of Bounds of Drop Short Kicks) in 3 games perhaps he sits there for the poor kick rather than pre-conceived strategy?

I doubt it. For a kick at goal to end up where he was would be a bloody awful kick, not a bad kick.

Every good defending ruckman knows to go to the goal line when the opposition has a shot on goal. You take the ruckman away from the line, you increase your chance of a goal going through.

Tongue in Cheek doggie....frustrating its our home ground and the conversion is poor - something else to work on.
