The lions weren't that good. We still had a number of good players on the day yet were flogged.

-Skills awful still (almost broke my hand during the second quarter where we repeatedly kicked it to corrie)
-Davey is a complete liability. Too often goes the bump, too often is brushed aside when trying to tackle and is out of the contest.
-Moloney - 30 touches couldn't give a shit. Didn't chase once.

-No forward or midfield pressure WHATSOEVER. Opposition teams just waltz the ball from defence.
-Let's back rivers/frawley to beat their opponents and actually try to win a game instead of having 3/4 our side running around filling space in the backline.
-Sylvia i'm becoming very impressed with

Last thought- i can't take much more of this.

I've noticed that we tend to overcook our pressure on the man in possession - that is when we do decide to put some pressure on. What do I mean?

Whenever an opposition player has the ball and his direct opponent is either about to pressure him into disposing of it/tackle him, one (or more) of our players nearby will run to the ball-carrier to help out his teammate, thus leaving his opponent free who then always seems to receive an easy handpass and is free to run on, generally without anyone chasing. Yes it's good to see that we're willing to help out our teammates, but if you're going to leave your opponent then it's imperative that you create a disputed ball/tackle the bloke/god forbid manage to get the ball yourself. It's a little harsh to name names in this case but Wheatley and Moloney are serial offenders. Either go in there and make something positive of it for the team or trust that your mate will be able to do it on his own.

This is just another thing we can't afford.

I'm just crying out for some accountability. I want one on one/direct matchups so i can really see the full lazyness of some of our players, those that put in defensively and those that don't.

I'm a big believer in this, it exposes the weak links pretty quickly.

JuveRule highlighted an interesting one. I.e. the tackling, I agree that our team tackling opens us up to the opposition running off uncontested. However I think our players know that the guy laying the tackle won't be albe to make it stick, therefore the teammate goes into assist. Damned if ya do & damned if ya don't, we can't win!

We have so many deficiencies & it's hard to do them all justice.:(

We looked at our best when we were more accountable in the final term. The long & direct kicking worked a treat but it's 80's style footy, & could probably be shut down pretty quickly.
