Just for those Carlton history buffs out there.

I was just reading the article about the PP re-development and mentioned it to a fellow blues supporter in the office where I am currently working and mentioned that they were going to do the same as what happened to Waverly Park.

So I went off to find something about Waverly to show him and I went to the Australian Stadiums site. While I was there, I had a look at some of the other old surburban grounds and it was then that I found these interesting stats.

Arden Street Record Crowd: North Melbourne vs Carlton - 35,116 - 27/8/1949 VFL
Glenferrie Oval Record Crowd: Hawthorn vs Carlton - 36,000 - 17/4/1965 VFL
Junction Oval Record Crowd: St Kilda vs Carlton - 46,973 - 20/5/1950 VFL
Princes Park Record Crowd: South Melbourne v Carlton - 62,986 - 1945 VFL GF
Punt Road Oval Record Crowd: Richmond vs Carlton - 46,000 - 13/6/1949 VFL
Kardinia Park Record Crowd: Geelong vs Carlton - 49,109 - 30/8/1952 - VFL

And thats not including the MCG which also belongs to Carlton with 121,696 people showing up to see us beat Collingwood in the 1970 GF.

I dont know what the record crowd for the lakeside oval is because it's been converted to the Bob Jane Stadium and they are using the stats for that now...
 
They are impressive stats dramoth. you often wonder how the ******** could they fit 46,000 people in at punt road or even 62,000 at princess park.

back in the days of standing room areas would do it.

They managed to actually fit 92,000 people into waverly once and 130000 people into the G to see one of the US evangalists (Billy Graham)

Actually there was only was only 90,000 people at Bill Graham.. The 40,000 spirit guides hovered above their shoulders!!!!!:o
