Need to work from home next week. What is the best way to sound proof a room cheaply? Mainly need the doors done as they are what's generating noise
What do you mean by doors generating noise?

If they're loud because they're opening all the time, just keep them closed.

Hollow insides generate an echo
Cool, ok then.

Fill your "office" with as much shit as possible. If you've got a bookshelf, place it directly opposite the source of the noise (ie: the door) and make it look super funky to diffuse the sound (see here). Hang up as much stuff you have to absorb the sound (wall hangings etc). Deaden sound reflections from wooden floors and tiles with rugs or the carpet in your garage.

Get a set of cheap arse Logitech speakers (because they sound good) and listen to high-energy dance music while you're working so you don't notice the noise.

Or for the full office experience get earbuds and listen to the iPod Shuffle stuffed in your sock drawer. This is great if your partner or co-inhabitants are also working from home.

In my experience, cheap acoustic panels for sound diffusion and absorption are useless. The expensive ones are great but they're also expensive.
