Agreed - top bloke, great umpire, and that must be 30 years' continuous service, the majority of which were in the top 2 section of the competition when he was in his physical prime. To still be able to run C section games in his early 50s is a testament to Macca's fitness and skill as a fair and very popular umpire.

Well done Macca, hopefully Tommy shouted you a couple of froffies last night (or maybe this morning )

One of our most underrated fieldies in his prime. Had the happy knack of maintaining control without the need to be overbearing. And wasn’t afraid to fess-up when he made an error.

Point was that one would would expect the organisation that he has served so well over all these years to take the time to actually acknowledge his efforts on their direct media outlet to their member clubs i.e. the ones that pay the $$$ to pay the Admin to pay the umpires. Is it that hard?

Agree fully Cardio - spot on.

If you can not get that sort of support after 600 games of service - then what the hell do you have to do? Maybe 'office jobs' only get the exposure?

Macca has been an amazing servant, ambassador and friend for the 20+ years I have been involved in the VAFA. He has been a great sounding board for any matters concerning his fellow umpires and an outstanding umpire in his own right.

Congratulations Macca - have enjoyed the banter and beers over the years.

Since starting with the Ammos in 1997, I've found Macca to be a great mate. Remember some A and B Grade games there about 10 years ago which were fun to do with Macca, AD and Gibbo in charge.
