Hi all,

Stewart66 was a friend to many on here so I don't know how else to say this but I will give it my best go. I was contacted here privately a couple of nights ago by someone close to his family that, tragically, Stewart66 passed away on Monday.

A lot of posters here asking about him, and where he had gone since he abruptly left the forum 18 months ago so in speaking to his family friends and then getting approval from the family to post this, I felt that it would be beneficial to our online community that we have the chance to share our condolences with his family and share any memories/stories or to just let everyone know how important he was to our board.

I spoke regularly with S66 and had nothing but respect for him and the way he treated me. All class. We used to have regular private chats about the club and sometimes a bit about stuff outside the club. He was a regular down at training and would fill us in on the happenings of the club, almost daily. But above all else he was just a fantastic person, and it saddens me to hear what happened this week. Honestly sick in the guts thinking about this happening to someone who was loved/respected by so many people.

I don't know many people at the club anymore since Matt left, but I've spoken to his friends and am actively trying to get the club involved in doing something in honour of him at some point during the season. If anyone here has better connections (or any connections at all) please let me know and we can work together to sort something out.

I work in psych and so I'd be happy to either spend time with anyone here who needs it, or point you in the right direction. Above all else, please look after yourselves, it's so difficult to sit back for a moment and realise there are people behind these posts and behind a screen. Easy to forget sometimes, I know I am guilty of that too.

If you or anyone you know needs support call Lifeline on 131 114, or Beyond Blue on 1800 512 348.

Thank you everyone.

Gutted to hear this. Absoloute class act person and poster. Best wishes to his family

Thanks also for so respectfully sharing this information George, and really great advice we should all remember!

Vale Stewart66. One of our most insightful posters, his voice will be missed.

Thank you George for letting us know. If you can pass on our condolences and let his family and friends know that he was greatly admired for his contributions here. I have no worthwhile connections to the club myself, but if I can help the St Kilda community to remember him and lay tribute in any way, please be sure to ask, as I would like to contribute.

Sending virtual hugs to anyone out there who needs it.

Rest in peace S66

I spoke with S66 a fair bit and had the pleasure of catching up with him a few times at training, he was a true gentleman

Really sad news he will be missed

Not many posters were as well liked and respected as Stewart66, as others have said he was a classy poster, never getting bogged down in petty squabbles and he always went out of his way to put in detailed training reports with a great eye for talent. He loved future forecasting the kids and there will be a few players who's careers are on watch because of his nod of approval. Rest In Peace Stewie.

That is so sad that Stewart has passed , we used to often message each other talking about the kids coming through and when he stopped responding i wondered what happened.
I wish i had had the chance to meet him as he seemed like a ripping man , lets hope young Jack Bytel can do you proud , RIP Stewie

He was a huge wrap for Bytel
We often spoke about Jack
Let’s hope he has a great year for S66

Thank you for posting this George.
Sad news when a forum member passes.

Best wishes to his family and friends.

And S66, rest in peace old mate, say hi to Doc and all the passed Sainters, and I am sure you all will be looking down when the time arrives for the enivitable second flag.

So sorry to hear.
Used to really enjoy his very informative posts - particularly about the training sessions and wondered why we hadn’t heard from him in a while.

Condolences to all his family and friends x

Thank you everyone.
I was shocked and saddened hearing the news Tuesday night.
Although I didn’t know him well, we had some chats about footy & life in general.
He was an intelligent guy but unfortunately he was also troubled, the full extent none of us knew.
RIP and condolences to his friends and family.

I would like to echo Enclosed Animal’s thanks to you George for your respectful and heartfelt words in sharing this information with us all!

S66 was a very good friend of mine. I got to know him many years ago through mutual Saints’ supporters and, over the years, our friendship grew to the point that we would chat on the phone several times a week, catch up at training or he would drop into my place for a coffee, a beer or to watch the footy together on TV. As has been mentioned, he loved talking about the kids coming through; or a nudge, nudge, wink, wink some inside info on what player the club may be chasing!

S66 was a passionate Saints’ man. He was also an intelligent and erudite man, who was as adept at discussing politics and world events as he was at discussing all things footy. But above all, he was a loving father, granddad and great friend to many. I know his family will be touched by the comments here, especially in the esteem he was held by all.

S66 was a big, gentle, kind and considerate man, always putting others before himself. He is going to leave a massive hole in the lives of his friends and particularly his family. I will miss him greatly. RIP mate.

No need to thank me mate, didn't need to think too hard to remember what kind of person S66 was not only to me but to a majority of this board - this thread a great representation of the impact he had here.

I will do what I can to get the club to pay their respects in some way to him and his family, least I can do and more than happy to do my best to make something work.

It's shocking and sad and I'm just gutted for everyone. We all need to talk through things, I know it shouldn't take something like this for us to remember to speak to someone if we're struggling but if anything we should use this as a point in time to make change in our own lives, don't be afraid to talk - it takes far more courage to talk about our struggles than it does to bottle it inside and "be a man".

And thank you for your post - it was touching, heartfelt and you put it together beautifully. Well done to you. You know this, but if you need anything feel free to reach out to me - call, text, PM. I don't care.
