Not sure if this triggers anyone's interest here but thought I'd mention it anyway.

Went to see Sting with the MSO at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl tonight. Absolutely incredible. He's re-arranged all of his songs to suit the orchestra and it shows through immediately. A brilliant performance.

Still touring around NSW with the Sydney Symphony. Catch it if you can.

During the Big Bash coverage last night FOXSPORTS panned away from the MCG and showed the aerial shot of the Sidney Myer, looked a full house to me.

Saw Sting at the Royal Albert Hall in London about 25 years ago, and he was very good. Haven't bought the orchestra album though.

I know one person who was going - they got a full refund after it took them an hour to get into the MMB (Sting had already started playing by this time) and then there was nowhere to sit and they couldn't hear anything at all (poor sound quality).

Seems that the promoter sold more tickets than the MMB could hold and didn't get a big enough PA - naughty, naughty.

don't accept this as a complaint, this shits me how people turn up late or even right at the death to concerts they've spent a heap on. a bit of preparation wouldn't go astray, their own fault.:thumbsd:

as for the sound quality, they had some grabs on the news last night, few hundred people walked out complaining apparently.
to the op, is there anything behind those complaints?

I am going to the Sydney concert on Friday night - it will be at the Opera House forecourt, rather than his earlier shows inside the house itself. Got the DVD of his Berlin concert and really looking forward to it.

Agree with Chief, the most stable genius, though - it was general admin, the later you arrive, the worse it is.The MMB or any outdoor event for that matter is not going to have the same views an same sound no matter where you are. They probably sold too many tickets but still, this is the same complaint at all the wineries too.

Not for mine, sound quality was perfect. I was near the front of GA though so I'm not sure about the people at the back. Did have trouble hearing the PA announcement though.

The other point about attendance I can understand, it was packed. I don't know who the security company was but they did seem to have issues getting their shite together. It was only at 7.30 (the scheduled start time) when someone made an announcement begging people to find some space.

Agree with the general 'get there early' argument though, especially for somewhere like the SMMB. That said, if you buy a ticket you should be able to get a seat somewhere in the arena, and I have no doubt it was oversold by a large amount, which is amateur from the promoter.
