Two players playing loose in defence in the first quarter. What happened to backing our ability.

Never leaving Ottens in the goal square for more than 5 minutes.

Not trying to run Lil Gaz through the middle of the ground. When our midfield was being slaughtered our two best players over the last month (Gaz and Chappy) are standing in the forward line. Any chance of getting them in the action.

Enright and Corey playing across half back all the time and not getting involved in the midfield rotation.

Coming out after half time with a ultra small forward line, Kingsley in the square as the only tall, getting it in the middle and kicking it long to the contest.

Some really questionable things out there on Saturday night. Some things more questionable than the players endeavour.
 
Bomber thompson is one i cant work out almost as he wanted to lose this game, he must want bryce gibbs very badley

I dont understand it either. We are the best contested ball team in the league, or we were before satday nite, so i dont understand why we dont kick long to our tall targets, and have the 2 best crumbers, GJ/Chappy, aswell as our other quality midfielders battle it out at the drop of the ball. I dont expect this all the time but its a simple gameplan and would work alot better than what we do now
 
Well I supose no matter what game plan you have it's not gonna work when your players are playing crap footy! No one could mark it in our forward so there wasn't a whole lot of point kicking it long hoping for a mark. Then if they started playing stupid annoying chippy-chippy footy we would never get anywhere and Geelong always stuff it up anyway. There ball skills weren't good enough for that anyway.

So what other plans are there in footy? LOL It can't be to complex... can it?
 
Bomber is reactive not pro-active.......The sad thing is he's reactive about 2 quarters too late everytime.

Unless Geelong make the 8 this must be his last year at the helm and even then I doubt his premiership qualities.
 
Why Joel Corey doesn't play more on the ball is beyond me.

Rooke has been a star, why on the bench.

Why is Ottens not at full foward when not rucking.

Gary must spend more time on ball.

Put Ling back to a tagging roll its what he does best.

Why bomb it long into the forward line AND KEEP DOING IT!!!! surely Thompson told them not to do that.

I was about to post pretty much the same thing. well said. It has frustrated me to see Bartel and Joel Corey playing as loose men in defence. we have milburn for that role. put the other two in the middle to create some plays..
 
Kingsley should play in defence and swap with Hunt who can play out of the Goal Square or Across half forward and get Playfair in the ruck and Hammer him for a few games and make him earn his spot this will in turn let moonley play across half back and generate some drive into the forward line whwre either ottens or king are waiting to contest. There are too many blokes getting a free ride. Hunt, Kingsley, Playfair need to lift or get dropped to the VFL
 
I think by those tactics employed on the weekend against the pies by Bomber, it perhaps shows he has lost confidence in our guys to win the footy and attack the opposition. When we had the footy no one was running hard forward everyone was content to stay back. He keeps saying that the coaching staff have to give the players confidence well he hasnt done that of late. From what was said in the paper this was addressed by the group so i hope the game plan returns to the attacking, accountable and honest style we are use to.

I might try that in my mext project meeting. "I didn't see that comming" might be a little career limiting. And I dont get payed anywhere near as much as Bomber.

Yeah and the stupid thing is they play this style of footy to try and ensure the game doens't become a blow out. Or so we don't get outmuscled, Or so we don't get beaten because of a shoot out and we don't have enough fire power.

And then we get smacked by 102 points. Good idea trying to keep things tight.

Sam Newman is right. People are over complicating this game, and average losing margins are getting bigger because the game is becoming contrived.

I love modern footy, would watch it over 1970's and 80's games anyday, but let the boys play!

Well said, i'm sick of the bomber bashing... He is a great man and hopefully becomes a great coach.

Yeah this is a weird one. Can anyone tell me what amount of game time in Geelong's recent matches these two have played in the backline versus the midfield?
