I know this possibility rears its ugly head every single time a player gets a serious knee injuries, but i swear, it really looks like something is seriously wrong with Subiaco. Maybe this is just illusion, but how many knee injuries have there been on Subi? This year, Read, Morrison, Waterhouse, Webster, Wellman.. (is there a few more?) I'll leave it to someone more intelligent than me to do this, but is there any way of compiling how many knee/ankle injuries there's been on subi this year, compared to other grounds??
I know the subiaco management have stated that there ground is perfectly all right bla bla bla, but you could hardly expect them to say something along the lines of 'after detailed tests, we've found that the surface *is* actually crap, because we haven't been looking after it. We feel so bad about this that we'd like to invite you all to sue us.'

JUst for reference, webster and waterhouse both occurred at Freo oval, not Subi.

..and there i was thinking i had a theory on my hands.. Be quiet please ;)

This was talked about a little while ago, around the time that Jako did his knee.

Some say the Subi grass is too spongy, or something along those lines.

Maybe an independent party should have a look into it.

If you call the AFL independent, they have. Supposedly no worse or better than elsewhere. I'm not convinced though!

We'll see this Saturday night when Perth Glory and Newcastle have the first leg of their major semifinal showdown in the NSL. I don't think you can get any more "independent" than that. :)

That game will also air live on Prime-7 here in Victoria, so I (for one) will be able to see just how "spongy" that pitch is, seeing how players are able to run, cut, pivot, and so forth.

Full review coming on Sunday...

Cheers,
William
