I know what you are telling me by going to the trouble of posting on a rival club's board in a desperate attempt to start an argument 1 game into the pre seaon comp.

I reply to them because i believe the more talk about Richmond and the more use of the word the better for the club.

It is similair to the collingwood media **** way of getting noticed. If there is no talk about a club it will wither and maybe die. North and Bulldog fans would love to here football talk about their clubs.

yes, yes I do. he is overpaid but he is one of the very good tall defenders in the league...along with Fletcher.

Fellow Tiger supporters.

You may have noticed that I have posted a couple of replies on the main board re Gaspar. I certainly dont defend him. For a blanket defender he is extremely over paid. By having Gaspar as our franchise player, we are missing out on having a match winner (such as a Voss, a Buckley, a Cousins etc) as our franchise player. Other posts have been right. There are probably 5-10 other defenders out there that are at least the equal of Gaspar who are getting paid half of what he is getting.

However, as I have pointed out, Richmond was faced with the situation that unless we matched what Freo was offering Gaspar, we would have lost him for virtually nothing. In this respect, I really feel for Richmond. Richmond definitely offer Gaspar that money off its own bat. They were really forced into the situation. As I raised on the main board in respone to a Collingwood supporter, if Freo offered to double Presti.... salary at the end of his existing contract, would he want Collingwood to tell Presti where to go or would he want Collingwood to match the salary. It is a very tough call and one that will no doubt have some people happy and others pi$$ed off.

I think it is a given that all tiger fans know that gas is being paid more than he should, but we also know the reasons why and also relie that all things being equal he is by far the best defender at the club.

Don't forget that we are not paying him as much as what Freo offered, but contracted him for as long as Freo offered. So his wage will not go up over the next 4 years where as other defenders will be asking for more at their next contract. We probably did over pay a bit much at the start, but by the end of his contract I think you will find others being paid more.
