Nevr been one to select someone purely for their "POD" value. I mean, how many POD players do you usually find in the team that wins the thing? It's not something I've researched, but I doubt the winning side has too many, if any POD's. Closest I've come over the last couple years are Ward and Sidebottom

I'm considering something I've been reluctant to do in the past, but my POD could be the amount of cash remaining I take into round 1.
I'm looking at keeping around 150K - 220K up my sleeve, in 2016 it might come in handy before price rises.

Although I haven't looked at the percentages Matty Boyd and Montagna look like they won't feature in too many teams to begin with.

Also considering Duryea and Ward.
Also probably going with Montagna. Don't know how many people will pick him but for a midfield pick I don't mind Sloane at 569k.

The trap I feel like some people get into is picking PODs because they a POD, rather than on merit. A POD can be a burden if they are scoring less then a popular player the you've missed out on the accommodate your POD
Almonst goes without saying.

I look at Gaff and Gray as PODS as they are priced around guys like Rocky, Sidey, Sloane and never seem to get a mention. But they are proven and average 105-110, consistant, durable, play in good teams who should be winning most games. Hard to argue that they wont be servicable Mids for the whole year and give you 100+ every week with a few big scores to prove their worth. Both had one game each in the 60's with 27 tonnes and 8 90's between them for the year.

If you're going for PODS who you expect to become top 10 then join the queue cos guys like Rocky at 550k aren't very PODish. Hahahaha PODish :D

Players I would consider POD's in my current team:

Simpson
Salem
JPK
Sandi
Harvey
McLean

Haven't seen too many teams with Zorko. He served me very well last season when I picked him up after his bye, and I'm likely to start him this time. He's priced a bit under what he ended the year on.

You would think it would go without saying, but some of the suggestions led me to say it anyway

By all means go for 1 or 2 out there picks, but you still need those top 10 players like Rockliff. Most really good PODs at the start of the year will be traded in by every other team after a few weeks anyway (Tmac, Neale etc from last season)

The best value PODs to me are the ones you trade in after the byes. Guys like Macrae who averaged 110ish in the last third of the year were the best PODs if they were traded in for an injured player or a rookie to sit at M7-M8

Completely agree. The mid season PODs who go on to average above their weight are like gold.
I traded in TMac on the bubble in round 3 and scored with Macrae in a mid year trade.
Taylor Adams was also doing very well for me untill he got himself rubbed out late in the year.

Haven't heard JPK mentioned much.
Had a slightly down year but is a proven scorer.
Parker worth considering too. Played hurt quite a bit last year, very interrupted season.

One way out of left field is Frost at Melbourne.
Started last season well. Playing forward/2nd ruck before getting injured and missing the rest of the season.
If he looks like filling a similar role, he could be a real smokey selection.
BIG if I know...

I'm probably the only one here who will roll the dice on Patty Cripps having a 3rd (super- premo breakout year in 2016) and average 115+ even in the most likely wooden spoon team for 2016. Has come back from holidays in even better condition than he did last year. The guy is a real professional, who will surpass Diesel Williams as the best inside mid the game has ever seen, you'll see. By today's standards think a bigger and better Fyfe at the same age. 120+ average in 2016 and currently my M4. Bookmark it.
