It is hoped that discussion in this forum will be limited to topics / aspects of your specific SC league. Discussion should take place here - with the bulk of general SC discussion continuing in the main SC Board.
I also encourage the planning of future SC league activity beyond the current year.
On behalf of the bigwigs here at BigFooty I have encouraged the use of the BigFooty name to be used in SC leagues. I appealed to them by describing all the free advertising that this site will gain if we are top 10 in the league comp - will give us a very strong case for SUBSTANTIAL sponsorship from the bosses here.
Inspired by the genius of the EliteDre@mTe@mers whom I wish to acknowledge for their part in the evolution of playing Dream Team / Supercoach.
I wanted to set up a tiered system of leagues, with the best players in the top league. At the end of each year there can be promotions and demotions based on performance during the year.
I suggested a tiered set of names like:
BigFooty Gurus ~ EDT 1
BF Brainiacs ~ EDT 2
BF Coaches = next level
BF Players = next level
BF Novices = next level
BF Drongos = lowest level
The beauty of this approach is that players are in a league with others of similar ability, making it more competitive, and possibly inspiring better performance from all.
Secondly they have a forum with which to update weekly scores, compare trading successes and generally taunt, praise, chat and cogitate over.
I think we could get enough interest to fill several leagues.
If we think long term - we may establish a tradition that will become our legacy to BigFooty posters in years to come.
BigFooty T shirts and free memberships are on offer, but if a league were to win the comp bearing the BigFooty moniker then they could be in for a more substantial prize
Whilst it may take longer to achieve than Dream Team, I really like the idea of eventually having a Supercoach team from each club.
That would require 256 players already - not counting the elite squad/s.
That's a big ask but not impossible. In order to make it happen we would need a "Captain" from each club who would be responsible for recruiting and maintaining the squad.
They could receive two years BF membership for each year of Captaining their squad and their name recorded in the hall of fame.
How does this sound?
"Inaugural [insert club] Club Captain of the BigFooty Supercoach Competition - 2008."
Hall of Fame
2008 [insert club] - Winner - BigFooty Supercoach Competition. Captain - [insert poster's name]
The winning club might get $400 towards their club's player sponsorship project.
Other thoughts that are in the pipeline:
? A perpetual trophy and free BF memberships and other worthwhile prizes for the participants.
? Hall of fame to commemorate their achievements.
? more active moderation
