Apparently he is unhappy at Collingwood and may want out. On the WCE borad they suggested that Collingwood wanted to trade with WC or Adelaide. This of course is purely rumour and speculation but if it did have any substance what would we be willing to give up for Chris Tarrant.

Personally, even considering his injuries, his attitude to football and his price tag, I would love to get him. He would give us that 'superstar' FF that Adelaide has been crying out for since Modra left whilst also giving a couple of years for the likes of Hentschel, Watts et al to further develop without thrusting the pressure of holding the forward line together on them. Plus we would be able to afford him with the pending retirements and trades.

I was thinking perhaps offering Biglands and Burton for him, which would mean we would HAVE to pick up a ruckman in the draft or trade for a Jamar or somoene of the like.

this is exactly what i have heard... but i dont think we want him the reason they are more likely going to trade him because of his poor off field behaviour and his a bad influence ont he other players!!

Yeah that's what I'm worried about. Still, I think his upside is better than his downside particularly if we get him for the right price.

Yeah true, still the likelihood of it happening is so slim anyway.

Q...How old is Tarrant.

I'm still more keen to draft than trade but Tarrant in a new environment does sound like a Lockett/Hall situation.

Or is this just going down the Carey/Burns road again.

Collingwood would be loathed to do a deal with a non Vic club. Despite ladder positions - Eddie sees Collingwood competing more vigorously with 6 non Vics and Essendon / Carlton than anyone else. He would rather trade a good player to a lowly Vic team like Kangas/Bulldogs/Hawks/Richmond.........than give a non vic team an even break....so to speak

Tarrant is only 23. Played 14 games this year and averaged 13 disposals, 8 marks, 2.5 goals per match.

I would have thought Tarrant was in the best 20 players in the league in 2003. His stocks have fallen a little this year due to injury and the Pies' poor form.

There is no way Tarrant will leave the Woods. He is their focal point and a marquee player.

But if we could get him, I would be very tempted.

You would also think that he is rated in the top 5 players at Collingwood...they would demand something similar....definately not Harpo Marx or Biglands

Tarrant has always been overly volatile.

He almost retired from the game Caydn Beetham-style a few years ago and much coaxing was needed from Collingwood's minions just to keep him in the game, let alone the club.

Apart from his reputation as bit of a club crawler, just recently there was his much publicised off-field dustup with Mark Johnson of Essendon.

Thus, given the expense at which it would take to land him (by way of trade and then wages) coupled with his overall mindset and the fact we're all still stinging as a result of Angwingate, we should steer well clear of him.

Adelaide Scum!

What's your take on the Father/Son rule?

Personally I think it's sensational.

The scary thing is that there's 200,000 Collingwood supporters just like this rogue, tool and/or (insert expletive here).:(

Please stay off our Board.

Thankyou.

EXACTLY.

We are NOT interested in Tarrant. Hentschel is our answer.

Not for a long time though.

Like Fergus, he'll be at least 2 years away from becoming a KP-forward consistent and good enough to seriously trouble opposition defences, and that's if he's allowed to develop there.

These types of rumours are good fun, but how many of them turn out to be true?

Pies have 2 key forwards, Rocca, who is close to retirement, and Tarrant. Do you really think they'd let go of Taz?

Just for the record, if we were to recruit a Pies player I'd go for Lockyer.

bit early yet, tarrant is an established superstar forward at 23.... hentschel will need a minimum 2 years before he will be even getting close!!

Correct in all matters except time-frame my cyber-friend. Expect to see a VASTLY changed forward line in the future.

'Those in the know' have seen Craigy's textbook (and it aint me, it's my source) say that you can expect "The 3 Way Philosophy".

Craigs thinking just might be correct; I'm still out with the Jury on his strategies but it will be REALLY interesting to see how they actually unfold in in-game strategy.

At the risk of sounding stupid - what is the 3 way philosophy?

I would like to see Trent Hentschel play across the half back line next season, in the mould of Adam Mcphee. Doing this will also allow the club to play Watts as well, it would not be a good idea to play both watts and Hentschel in the same forward line for at least 2 more years, like everyone has said they will need development time .

Umm . . . . .

I don't think it would be wise for me to give away Craig's trade secrets.;)

They sound about as plausible as New Zealand's national security secrets ;)
