NOD and Banners flew. Cox didn't so either an undisclosed injury or wrapping him in cotton wool for the epic Collingwood revenge game.
Cox probably a non-traveling emergency then, and will be added to Peel's side in a day or two.

Awesome back 6. Sweid mid too which is his natural position.
Where is Whan?

Disappointed Draper seems like the forgotten man after such a promising start and don’t really understand the preference for Worner over Walker or even really McVee over Simpson (although that’s easier to rationalize).

McVee seems a bit like a lesser version of the Houston going to Collingwoof situation. He’s obviously highly rated but having trouble finding his place in a different system and it’s affecting his confidence.

Defensive systems must be more complex than most of us realise. Knowing when to swap players, how to zone works at Fremantle, each players strength would have a huge impact on how you play. The other thing is probably just confidence, and if you start second guesses yourself you are buggered.

Also Finlay Yeo at HFF and Josh Nathan on the wing for East Freo Colts.

Ryda Luke already named for Peel Reserves. By rule 1 of the 3 on the extended bench for League will join him - 11 + 2 situation. Draper doesn't count as he came up for Peel.

Does Draper still count in the "available" numbers? If so, and Im reading this right - if Big Cox comes in, taking available numbers to 14, does that allow for 12 FFC listed players to line up for Peel?

Nah anyone who as an u18 comes up from Peel gets excluded from this framework, and is free to play without counting to those numbers.

So if Cox comes in, that's 14 available excluding Draper (the 9 named on field, 3 on extended bench, Ryda Luke who's already named for Reserves and Cox). 12 of those 14 + Draper so Freo can play a maximum of 13 Freo FC listed players.

Excellent thanks for the explanation - I hadn't considered Ryda in my calculations.

You could see the difference having Ryan and then Cox made (apart from the obvious fact they're good players).
I'm keen to see how we look against good oppo with the back 6 humming properly.
Love the way Ryan has clearly been given. boot up the bum in regard hanging onto the ball too long.

Simpson & Walker will be bringing the heat to get back in so we have real pressure for places everywhere on the ground now. If I was JL I'd be salivating at the thought of having Coop's kicking and Walkers run.

Murray and Sweid hopefully start turning in performances which can't be ignored. Nicholls up front Ollie Murphy down back (who I'm big on) plus Draper who looked like the reincarnation of Johnson Mk1 when he first came in.

More potential genuine talent in the 2's than I can remember.

Looking forward to this one tomorrow. Good Friday footy with the big boys on later. What a time to be alive!

Any update to this for 2026 with an extra player now?

Or is this already the 2026 rules

Pretty excited to see that backline in action, Walker and Simpson should be exciting bringing the ball out of D50.
Yeah I dunno , both of them seem to perform better at AFL level than Peel

Both have had a fair few completely crap games for Peel

Looks good on paper though

Cox named in the ruck, as expected.

Strnadica down to ressies for Easts is a surprise.
Strnadica is coming off a hammy, hasn't played any scratch matches at all......think Benning may have his work cut out against Cox......surprised EF didn't drag their colts ruck up to play......only 16, but already 203 cm and weighs 103kg....

Are you talking about Cooper Ramsay?

Reading some WAFL features, stories on Colts players to watch this season and potential League debutants - Tom Phillips that's named for his 1st League game on the interchange bench for EF tomorrow is also Freo NGA prospect - although he wasn't picked up in the 2025 draft - had played in Melbourne last season but represented WA U18's. Seem to recall him being discussed in the Young Talent thread last year - not news - but one to keep a watch on.

Nicholls is really exciting and I think Voss's disposal and general footy IQ will always leave the door open for someone to take his spot even if Nichols is at least another preseason away (IMO)
Genuine question - when you say really exciting -
Do you see him as an exciting project à la Apeness, that could or could not be anything, sky’s the limit but who knows, or exciting as in we have a legitimate set and forget 150 gamer once he develops?

Interested to see Tom Phillips goes. Didn’t play a lot of footy last year. I originally had him ahead of Ryda Luke but Ryda Luke quite raw and needs time has some xfactor forward traits.

Sweid as rover, Toby Whan on bench and Lucas Robinson (ruck rover at South Fremantle) all debuting from U18’s. Lucas was year 12 last year at Hale with birthdate Feb 2008. Sweid for example Sep 2007.
