Well, I can't see why they shouldn't make it down here. Unless they're just doing it for the money, of course [audible gasps heard]. Hell, even Killing Joke toured here recently...

On the Iceland thing, I understand Korn and Fantomas are doing shows there soon.
Have the Pixies written new stuff? If there's one thing the world doesn't need, it's a respected and frequently name dropped garage band reuniting and releasing ****ty new **** to spoil the memory.

No mention of any new material (phew!) in the press. There is a best of album and DVD being released in May though. DVD has all the clips + a live show at the Town & Country in London + the Gouge doco that SBS aired recently.

Actually just started listening to a couple of Pixies song, starting to quite like em. :)

Always loved Here Comes the Man and This Monkey's Gone to Heaven.
It's "Here Comes Your Man".

Also love "Debaser" and "Wave of Mutilation"

The late Stephen "Goose" Gray (best mate of Tim Rogers) once remarked about 'Doolittle' (when I told him I was really getting into it) "Yep, hasn't got a single dud track". He was probably right.

Got the Greatest Hits, fantastic album. Big fan of Wave of Mutilation and Debaser as well.

Do you mean "Death to the Pixies" with the bonus live album?

Wave of Mutilation (UK Surf remix) is also great, available on the B-Sides album, and originally (well, for me anyway) seen on the old Christian Slater movie "Pump up the volume" soundtrack.

I remember The Breeders at The BDO and I remember thinking before they started " Well this could be interesting The Pixies never toured ...big cult following ...Kim Deal ..hmm" as they took the stage complete pandemonium people surging and flying everywhere !! the only other time i have actually been seeing a band and thought " **** this is dodgy was seeing Ministry"....so hell yeah I'll go see the Pixies .....but probably stand to the side of the stage this time !!

The only promoter that seems to bring anything decent these days is Adrian Bohem (??) ... all the others seem to spend all the dollars on bringing out shows to appease the babyboomers eg : Fleetwood Mac ...or tha babysitter brigade eg :50 cent ( when he tours the UK does he become 50 p ??? ) its as if all big arena shows ( wich would required for the Pixies ) must be approved by people with the musical knowledge of Molly Meldrum !! ( Zero !!) ... just seem to notice Adrian Bohems name appearing alongside the quality acts

Anyone else think that while Dolittle was a great album, Surfer Rosa was the kick arse album of their career?

Yep, hard to split 'em but Surfer Rosa for me too. The Breeders doing Gigantic at the Corner last year was one of my all time greatest live experiences. Now here's hoping we get to see the Pixies do it as well. I heard a rumour re them doing Splendour In The Grass! Anyone else heard that one?

Both great albums, hard to split. Hope like hell they make it here, doubt it they will make it to Perth anyway, I wouldnt hesitate going to Melb and seeing them though.

What no "Allison" in that set list?

I picked up the Pixies DVD today and had a quick look around. It looks awesome. there are four parts to the DVD:

* Live Songs: from their first concert in England in 1988
The Holiday Song
Nimrod's Son
Bone Machine
Levitate Me
Ed is Dead
Where is My Mind
Caribou
Something Against You
Hey
Gigantic (awesome! I love Kim Deal :D )
I've Been Tired
Vamos
In Heaven
Tony's Theme
Wild Honey Pie

* Videos
Monkey Gone To Heaven
Here Comes Your Man
Velouria
Dig For Fire/Allison
Alec Eiffel
Head On
Debaser

* On The Road: Documented footage from their American and European tour of 1989

* Gouge: a 40 minute documentary featuring the who's who of rock (David Bowie, PJ Harvey, Bono, Thom Yorke etc) waxing lyrical about how great the band were, as well as interviews with Frank Black, Joey Santiago and David Lovering. Really enjoyed this section.

Well worth the $30.00 price tage. Go and get it!

Also, take this for what it's worth...heard a rumour that The Pixies are going to headline Big Day Out this year. I thought AC/DC were the rumoured headliners previously...

Velouria & Debaser would be my favourites. The Pixies really deserved to be a big, number one pop chart band- they're very accesible & catchy, yet quality stuff.
