Torrents work a lot better when you can upload at a reasonable speed to. It's give and get when it comes to torrents.

Also it could be that there are just not many peers or and the file is rare, if the swarm is small then you are relying on only a few people to upload to you.

It could also be that your ISP limits the port that torrents use. I'm not 100% if this happens, but I've heard. What ISP are you with.

If the file is popular, generally you should get a fairly 'maxed out' speed. Try something just out and see what speeds you get....

You havent throttled your download speed in azureus (dont know what it defaults to), also dont set your upload speed to full speed - it'll slow your downloads as well.

My ISP does this for DC++, but not for torrents.

I found Azureus a bit ordinary, I use utorrent and usually upload a bit faster than down, but it does depend on the torrent.

To test, find a smaller torrent with a lot of seeds, see how that goes.

Can anyone tell me why despite me having plenty of bandwidth spare and being able to download off the net @ 29-odd kb/s Azereus will only download torrents at Under 10 kb/s most of the time? Its really pissing me off.

Cheers.

Check your ports, on both your computer and, if you have one, your wireless router. I had the same problem whilst using uTorrent, and although this WAS supposed to fix it, i just changed to using Limewire and now it works. We had to set up static IPs.

Yeah its about 10k down/ 8 k up at the moment but Im trying to figure out where the other 9kb/s is going to because its not spare as my browser doesnt even have enough kb/s to load a page when its running. I have about a .450 ratio coz It started with a low upload limit.

Mostly NBA games with 100+ peers at least.

I use a 52000ish port to try and avoid that and have opened it with my firewall.

Im with Bigpond. For a couple more weeks then bubbye. Contract just finished. :thumbsu:

Doesnt matter which one, it just generally struggles.
