ok, well sadly, yet maybe finally, the end of the season has come. on the AFL site, there's an article speaking about the trades, and here are the ones that concern us...

Untouchables

Shane Woewodin, Adem Yze, Jeff Farmer, Brad Green, Andrew Leoncelli, David Neitz, Jeff White, Peter Walsh, Paul Wheatley, Daniel Ward

* * * * * Five-star trades

David Schwarz: The big fella says he wants to stay and the Dees say they want to keep him, but we still can't quash rumours about the relationship between him and the coach.

Jeff Farmer: The Wiz will be linked with the West until the day he decides to stay. The Dees are confident of keeping him. Very confident.

* * * Three-star trades

Brent Grgic: Nice bloke, they say, and not a bad footballer, but his time is up. Can play forward, back and midfield, but problem is he doesn't do it well and is inconsistent.

Travis Johnstone: Big decision here. Do they keep him and he struggles and get nothing for him at the end of 2002 or try to trade him while the value and interest is still alive? We favour the former ... just.

Alistair Nicholson: they want a big, tough centre half-back and if they get him, Nico could be the trade bait.

* One-star trades

Ben Beams: ton of pace, but has remained thereabouts.

they also mentioned some stuff about our all-time-fave player GRGIC!!! yep! there's some chance of his amazing playing ability leaving the club.
but sadly, there was also some talk of russell robertson and the TRAV leaving us too. although i highly doubt that robbo would leave or that they will get rid of him, jono is a diff story. as a number one draft pick some years ago he's not really playing upto his full potential, they might be thinking of trading him.
i personally would miss jono at the club, and i recon they should give him another year to see if he can really shine, because when he DOES end up playing, well, he plays well!!!

alright well i read that in the paper awhile back about untouchables and that. but truthfully no one is untouchable, even the captain but anyhoo............ i heard a couple of rumours that were backed up on demonology, which includes Gerge going to brissy in exchange for Tim Notting which would just make me the happiest perons in the world (long story and i aint gonna explain it )

Beams to collingwood for Ben Kinear

Leoncelli to Richmond for NICK DAFFY.

Rigoni or A. McDonald and Lamb to bulldogs for Rohan Smith. Lord i hope that doesnt happen.

Gerge, well yeah anyone or anything would be better than him and i rackon that would be a great trade!
Beams for Kinear is also pretty good.
Don't thing Carlton will give up their main ruckman for a 29 year old who has had 3 knee reconstructions.
Rigoni, Macca and Lamb..... well don't know about Lamb but we wouldn't trade an old player for another old player and while i love Rohan Smith i doubt they will give Rigoni or Macca up for him... well maybe Macca but not Rigoni.
Don't think that Richmond will give up Daffy for Chell or that Melbourne will take on Daffy who has had a pretty bad run with injuries.
Anyways thats in reply to the last post.....
I was very upset to read that they thought Robbo was a trade option. I can understand why other clubs would look at him (young, full of potential, good kick for goal and great marking skills) but why on earth would Melbourne give him up when we lack tall marking forwards with Schwarta's retierment looming and Neita's roll down back?
I don't think Robbo's contract is up, and from what i know he is pretty happy in Melbourne.... so maybe i'm just being peranoid or maybe the newspaper wrote crap!

If we can get Porter for Schwarz I reckon go for it, but like you said its not gonna happen. Unless we get someone VERY GOOD for Schwarta he better be staying.

Dont know a lot about Kinnear but I think Beams is very underrated and one of the players that hasnt been given his fair share of game time. I saw him against Fremantle in out Ansett Cup match and he starred in the midfield but hasnt had a run in the centre since.

Leoncelli for Daffy would be a fair trade but I dont know but would we really be gaining anything? I dont wanna pick up another old injury prone player thats gonna suck a few 100K from the club then retire after 10 games.

Rigoni, McDonald, Lamb/ Smith trade also seems a bit dodgy. Smith is getting old and his best footy is probably behind him. I couldnt stand seeing Lamb go to the Bulldogs and turn into a star CHB!

If we are to acquire a good playing list, we MUST TRADEwisely and must give up a quality player....this is what supporters fail to see.

The player I would definately keep is Schwarta, as he is the heart and soul of Melb.....he's virtually our "soul" captain and must be retained.......and as for the players mentioned above, I would trade them all, plus MORE..

Ok, i said it before but i think Big Poppa Pump said it very well.
Chell, Rigoni and Macca are... let's face it.... old! To trade them for even older players is just DUMB!!!!
Chell and Rigoni are fantastic and work well with the rest of our midfield which means they won't let them go.
Schwarta.... well yeah no one is dumb enough to let him go for a ruckman who isn't half as good as our man Whitey!
And Gerge.... yeah he can just go a rot in the gutters!

i also recon he should stay. i REALLY like him, and i got a lot of confidence in him. when he does get to play, he really plays well, so recon he should stay.
as for leoncelli and rigoni - yeah, they're KINDA old, but not too old! they still play fantastic footy (when in form). however, even though i love macca and everything, he just isn't as good as chell and rigoni - he's still brilliant though!!!

4)i think st.kilda is about to trade Tim Elloit to Sydney, and melbourne will trade Brent Gricg to kangaroos whoever they get for them will be a good pick up

5)I've heard that there will be a 4 Way trade between Bulldogs, Adelaide, Collingwood and Melbourne.
Neitz to Bulldogs, Garlick to Adelaide, Burns to Melbourne and Burton to Collingwood. It's just a rumour i heard.

6) tim notting is going no where, and we definitely not trade him with Brent Grgic.
If you must know benny robbins is heading to victoria.

7) the reason that andrew leoncelli didn't play agaisnt the swans towards the end of this year is because he is going to be plaing for them next year in a trade with jarrod crouch.

8) I hear Daffy is going to MElbourne for Rigoni and a draft pick, possibly first round.

9) trent croad to melbourne for nicholson and grigic.

10) grgic is goin for notting or cox

11) Roumor has it that Matty Allan is to be traded to melbourne for Daniel Ward and a second round draft pick.
(apparently the guy lives near Col Kinnear and mows his lawns, so he knows it all on this one.
12) Hawks also get Chris Lamb (promising young tall defender) from the dees, and also James Begley, a good mid-field talent..

seriously i doubt some of these, AND if number 5 happens, well i might just bye bye dees. LOL this crap keeps getting better i tell you.

OH MY GOD!
When i read the first few i was going to die, i swear... my heart is still beating like crazy.
But than i read on and found out that 99% of it is a load of absolute crap.
There is no way Melbourne will let all these people go and there is no way we will get all these players in return.
I'm with you Nicki, if they trade Robbo i will not buy a membership next year and i will not support the club as much as i do now.
Don't get me wrong Robbo is not the reason i go for Melbourne, but being my favorite player and being a good player who just keeps improving i will be very angry to see him go when infact he has done nothing wrong.
If Melbourne does trade players like Neita and Robbo than it all goes to show what a stupid bunch of idiots are heading this club... not that we didn't know that already.
Anyways its not gonna happen, they are only saying this crap to stir us up.
If any of you watched the footy show last night, you could see that Schwarta isn't planning on going anywhere... that he isn't even sure whether the dees want him or not.
Its all a load of crap.... i mean why fix something if it isn't broken!
