MELBOURNE DEMONS!!!
hey, um, i just wanted to know how you guys all feel about the recent trades with mckernan and porter. i don't really know how liked or unliked either players are to each club, but i know i wouldn't like to lose a player that's been really good for us for a long time... i hope everything goes well with 'the new guy' porter.

Corey was basically my fave player so I'm pretty sad to see him go, but it might very well turn into a beneficial move for him so I wish him the best of luck. I don't really have any problems with Porter, but to be honest I know relatively little about him. Hopefully he will prove to be a good pick-up for the team, I have confidence he will be.

I was a huge Corey fan, I had time for him.. I didn't care what he did after 96, he helped win us a flag, but half way through 2000 it hit me and then bang in 2001 it hit everyone, Corey was really really struggling and it wasn't just frustrating for him.

Here are some moments which I think led up to Corey leaving

1997 - Preliminary Final - Corey does his shoulder and our Grand Final chances go out the window, so does most of Coreys pre season

1998 - Entire Year - There were so many niggling injuries, the broken finger against Collingwood, the knee injury against Brisbane, nothing was going right for the bloke.

1999 - Average season at best - Played in a lot of bursts, best example of this was the Grand Final where he was held until he took a mark and goaled from 60 out then a great mark in the goal square and swinging the game back to North, didn't do much else for the day

2000 - Average year again - Didn't do much at all, Burton took over the ruck duties

2001 - The final straw - The Richmond game. This was make or break after this game, if Corey didn't come back and at least play something resembling his former self we knew that this would probably be his last year at the club. He became an enigma, what would Corey do tonight?? Kick 6 like he did against the Dogs?? Or lose us the game by dropping marks that a first gamer could take?? eg. Leigh Harding

So am I happy he is gone.. no.. am I happy it is good for him and probably is for the club.. yes!

Good luck Corey.. but better luck to Mark Porter

Sorry to see Corey go but over the last few years his lack of consistency has frustrated himself, the coaching panel and the supporters so it came as no real surprise to hear that he wanted to try his luck elsewhere before it was too late. I think he'll be a success at Carlton and have been telling sceptical Carlton supporters that he may just win them a flag IF he can put it all together. As for Porter, well I believe he's just a good ,solid citizen type player who competes well all the time and can take a nice grab, but he'll never kick 6 in a matchwinning performance ,in fact his kicking is very ordinary, but I'm more excited about getting another first round draft pick as this should net us a future star ,given the depth of this years draft.
