went down and saw the boys today. it was alot more contested work compared to the previous few sessions. there isnt a whole lot to add to my previous reports (on EFH) but perhaps most importantly it seems i caught a glimpse of the new playing jumpers!

im not certain this will be right but every player had a jumper on and all the other players had their correct numbers.

24: Matt Rosa
12: Mitch Morton
19: Mark LeCras

34: Ben Sharp
36: Ash Thornton
42: Beau Wilkes.

smith and stinger didnt have numbers on their jumpers. i didnt see any established players have different numbers (like staker still 41), i think that may yet happen.

here are some short notes but as i said not i cant add much to what i have already said on EFH.

* the recently beefed up Sammy Butler didnt take part in any contested work. he did skills and ran some pretty intense 400m sprints. not sure if he was injured to just having a light session.

* Brad Smith just did light ball work. no contested play or sprints.

* Phil and Wirra did light work. Wirra had a knee brace which i hadnt seen before. i think that may be a ploy to statisfy those who wanted him to play in the aboriginal all star game. but he did all the contested work including a practice match.

* on a good point it seems adam selwood has joined the main group from his OP.

* Doogs was a no show along with gasper. both probably doing rehab.

* Gardy was moving very well. doesnt look anydifferent to his movement pre-knee injury.

* players who impressed me were; hunter, dmac and b.jones. and to a lesser extent sharp. he looks a likely type one problem which i noticed was that he would get the ball and run forward 10m but as an opponent approached he would back back. he did that alot to buy himself some time. not a huge issue but will need to be rectified because u cannot do that on a consisant basis in the afl.

* ash hansen was playing key back in the praccy. not sure it means anything but it was interesting.

if u have any questions on specific players just ask. as i said not much has changed from when i went 2 weeks ago.

(will add this to EFH when up and running)

Yeah - thanks again mate, still makes for great reading over a cup of coffee!

How did the rest of the team line up in the praccy? In normal positions? Where was Big Q?

Also, how intense was the praccy?

Thanks again.

I'm pretty sure it's just to improve his non-existant defensive skills. He will never play key back in a game that means anything.

Great post

I think Hunter could be the big improver next year so i'm glad you reckon he is going all right

had a chat to Andy Embley yesterday. I'm just about to go out so i'll go into more detail later but apparently Matt Rosa is really fitting in well and impressing.

So much for Streaker's 'inside info' that Morton would be #24  He was very persistant about that for at least 6 months. Oh well, maybe next time Streaker! Next time you might get lucky.

You will find that there is nowhere that I have said I have "inside info" on anything as I know no one at the club to get such info. I may have been persistent. It still isn't certain that Rosa has 24 yet, lets just wait and see ;)

No too late Streaker, coasting has truely put you in your place.

Hang your head Streak. FOR SHAME.

I heard someone was injured today, didn't catch the name.

The "inside info" ;) is that it is McDougall who will require arthroscopic surgery on his hip and he will miss the Gee Whiz cup

i was also suprised about rosa gettting 24 (if in fact he has). it seems the club has a truckload of faith in him.

to answer afew q's :

the praccy was intense but it seemed the marking contests were not permited and only light tackling. a defender would be there and put a body on but wouldnt physically go for a punch.

i dont expect hansen to play CHB. and going by his form today, he wont.

didnt see much of the big Q.

stinger tagged fletch in the praccy.

Great report mate. Much appreciated here in Melbourne where the Herald Sun constantly drowns me with Collingwood and Essendon news (St. Kilda not far behind).

Just a quick one on Daniel Kerr, did he look lively in the scratch-match? Getting plenty of the ball (assuming he played in the middle)? I hope he's set for a huge season.

How did the captain look. Super important for us that he is over all his little injury niggles and so forth and ready to restamp his place among the elite midfielders in the competition!

I reckon our midfield plays better without him for some reason, and thats not taking away anything from him.
