I am a fan of the current lions administration and the recruiting team and football department. I think the organisation has a strategic vision, that flows into long term goals that inform their short and medium term plans.

I think they have good, competent people throughout the organisation all working towards improving the club and the team. I think they are dedicated and knowledgeable and know better than I what it takes to run a football club. That doesn't mean they are infallible though, and it certainly doesn't or shouldn't mean that as members we are unable to express our views.

The club at all levels must be robust enough to stand up to scrutiny and allow its decision making to ne examined and challenged. So I actually cringe a little when other BF members in supporting the club trot out the 'we don't know what else is going on' or 'so you think you know more than the professionals line'.

No I don't, but I often think we are owed the respect and courtesy of an explanation and decent communication, and on some issues we are getting it, others not so much.

Eight years ago I travelled to New York and visited ground zero, and hanging in a window overlooking the WTC site was an American flag on which was written "dissent is patriotic" poignant then and still truthful now.

We should challenge the club, challenge it to be better, challenge it to respond to its members and meet our expectations on and off the field.

Trust that the club is striving for success and that the clubs employees know what they are doing but trust also that the club can survive dissent and prosper.

It's one of the reasons the recruiting impresses me, as I've said previously, I won't pretend to know more than Kerr, I don't need to. But I'm impressed by the fact he fronts up and is prepared to give us his thoughts.

So if you are perplexed by the clubs decision making I won't ask you to just accept they know more than you (though they likely do), ask for and get an explanation, and consider it on its merits, because dissent is loyal.

NB- aimed at noone in particular, just a mini vent, a ventette if you will.

In *insert flavour of the month here* I trust.

First. Great post, engaging read.

Second, don't take what I am about to say personally, because it's not about you, but your post is a great catalyst.

The sections I have quoted are for truth, but they're also quoted for you to read, for all of us to read, and think of them in the context of our own effort.

It's one thing to say we deserve an explanation and decent communication. It's another to actually ask for it, to demand it.

Questioning the clubs decisions is great, but we actually have to question the club, not an avid audience of forum readers.

We should challenge the club, challenge it to be better. But posting on a forum isn't doing that. It's akin to that Kony crap "click like on facebook to overthrow a dictator".

If you we believe the statements I've quoted (and there are a few people who post in ways that definitely sound like they want an explanation or more communication from the club) then I challenge everyone to actually do something. To put the effort in to come to the AGM. Put the effort in to work together to have our voices heard. There are people who are trying to organise an effort, and get some momentum started. Get in touch with those people, be proactive, offer your help, your time.

Because posting on a forum doesn't do anything. It doesn't challenge anyone, and it doesn't make change happen.

If you want change, or even if you just want a reason. Then put your money where your mouth is and make an effort.

PS: I totally see the irony of posting on a forum about how posting on a forum doesn't change anything, and trying to use that post to inspire change.

Agree with the OP, certainly we must ask the question and keep them honest, it is an uphill battle in brissy where most members don't care. Whilst I'm fairly happy with our admin, they are still running our club, and we need to make sure we keep them pointed in the right direction.

I agree with both matwt73 and karix.

Hopefully I think the Club itself is now opened to being challenged / questioned on issues - so long as it is constructive criticism. After all we all want a successful club onfield and off-field - it is just not always completely clear what the best way of achieving that is.

My gut feeling is that both Angus Johnson and Malcolm Holmes are approachable and open to alternatives.

To reiterate what karix has said, one of the best ways to do this in the short term would be to turn up to the AGM on Wednesday December 12 (I think) and be prepared to ask important questions you think deserve answers, or perhaps put up suggestions on important issues you think deserve more consideration. It could bevia the formal Q/A at the AGM or through an informal chat with someone afterwards.

I know if I lived in Brisbane I would be there. So it would be great if people could attend.

Like matwt73 said, overall I am happy with the direction of the Club onfield and off-field. However I think there are a number of key issues that need to be dealt with, we just to make sure the Club makes the best decisions and keeps on the right path.
