Just bought a new CD called Tales From The Australian Underground. Has one of my favotite songs of all time, Pumping Ugly Muscle by the Primitive Calculators, it's the first time it's been released on CD and I've basically been thrashing the ******** out of it for a few days.

Just got the neighbourly knock on the door-first time in twenty years I've had the "could you just turn the music down a bit":D

I agree with your neighbour. The Primitive Calculators??? I'd ask you to turn them down as well;)
My upstairs neighbour when he first moved in had a few friends over and over the course of the night we heard such "fabulous" artists as Dire Straits, The Eagles, Billy Joel, Cold Chisel, Boz Scaggs, Don McLean, Bruce Springsteen etc..and all VERY loud. The "party" went until 7am. I heard him go to bed at 7.30am and then thought that might be a really good time to put on "Fresh fruit for rotting vegetables" really loud and on repeat. I then went out to the local cafe to have a long brekky and read the paper. He never did it again:thumbsu:

Once when I was on a bus I had my MP3 player in, and I got up to get off, one old lady told me I should stop listening to "that loud noise, it's not music". It was with a laugh that I told her I was listening to Frank Sinatra, and that next time she opens her mouth she should think beforehand.

Hahaha, old lady - Pwned!:D

I can imagine that scenario happening on Seinfeld.

I was walking along and singing 'Blue Skies' to myself one day and an old lady called me a pervert. There must be something about Crankie Frankie that gets the old dears going.

You'd love living downstairs from me. It'd be all Celibate Rifles and Primitive Calculators whenever you were home.:thumbsu:

I get that all the time for my car audio system. Its worth more then my car. Itd be one of the loudest in WA easy. It does near 150.

The technical term is "It goes up to eleven"

Lol in terms of volume it does about 18 before your ears start bursting out of your skull. I always turn it on then go inside. Annoys the neighbours. I can still hear it even when im in the shower :D

Won a 1000 fuel voucher a few months ago in a comp

By the way how good is track 6 on disc 2 - David Virgin "Give it up"? I missed that the first time it was out. Really enjoying that track.

I think I lost my memory of a lot of these songs in a drug haze. Theres some crackers on it like Salamander Jim, Proton Energy Pills, Tactics, Minutemen, Surfside Six, Riptides.

******** we were lucky to see those bands on a weekly basis.

Awesome band :thumbsu: . 'Lorne Greene......' is one of the great Australian releases...EVER. I have a 'B Side' interview from around its release time where the band labels that record as "terrible". Apparently it didn't quite sound the way they wanted it to sound.

Proton Energy Pills - They became Tumbleweed, didn't they?

Perhaps.

Or maybe it was the part of your story that you've conveniently omitted about running after her with your pants around your ankles while trying to touch her on the saggies that also got her razzed up a bit as well?

The brothers did went on to become Tumbleweed. I only found that out today when I read the liner notes on. Didnt know for years and then, bang, twice in one day.

I remember seeing POP supporting someone at the Old Greek. They must have been good because I remember then but not the main act.

You can't go wrong with a band that features Tex Perkins and Kim Salmon. Also being an Adelaide boy I'm sure you're familiar with the work or Martin Bland (Acid Drops, Primevils etc.)

Ofcourse LL. ;)

And the Salamander Jim line-up which featured on the 12" also included two more Adelaide legends - Lachlan McLeod & Stu Spasm.

*Edit - You may be interested to know, if you didn't already, that Dave Mason has been playing around town in an Alice Cooper covers band called 'Billion Dollar Bums'. You may also be interested to know the band also includes Renestair EJ (Bloodloss, Lubricated Goat etc.) & Chris Wiley (Fear & Loathing).
