Think he's unfairly maligned at times, Tyrone. Yes, St.Kilda aren't a great side, nor do they have a good defence but I thought his game was super and his last game and a half have really shown his talent off. Keep it up and if we do make finals he could be a real weapon :thumbsu:

Good game Today,Thought when he went on the ball he was more damaging,But like the rest of the side i guess the proof in the pudding won't come for Vickery until we play against the Big Boys.Needs to put his agression towards the contest and not waste his time with this push and shove crap.

Competing around the ground with confidence, clunking marks. That's all we ask from him at the moment.
Kicking his couple of goals of game is important

Definitely playing better after the bye than he was after his head knock.

I love watching him develop.
I've had a feel for a long time that he'd probably end up our most important player and I still feel that way.
He's getting harder and meaner by the week too which isn't all bluff and bluster. He's a genuine tough nut who can play.

I'm gonna cop it for this, but I thought today he wasn't much better in terms of quality than he has been all year. It was more a case of lack of opposition that enabled his output to be better, but he didn't do anything that suggested he's become an above average player against top 8 sides for mine.

I do rate him and definitely realize his importance to the side, but I just don't think he's there yet even after today. It's not a case for me of 'see if he backs it up against a good side' because I don't think he did anything different to other weeks when he hasn't delivered against good sides. Aaron Edwards is in the same boat, did nothing different today just had inferior opposition.

Anyway I hate being negative for the sake of being negative and his output today was very good, so good on him :thumbsu:

You are right this post just makes me angry! Really go and re watch every game this year and rethink your view. Vickery's contributions far greater than the stat sheet.

totally dissagree, he simply played better and you could see that through his confidence and decision making, i don't think anyone really thinks he is there compared to his 2011 form but he is definitely on his way back!!!!! 22 years old i have no doubt he will be a gun forward!

Vickery's aggression (at the ball) has been far more evident in recent weeks. He is very much a confidence player.... maybe he always will be. If so, get him into the game early and reap the benefits. The one thing he needs to fix up (and so does Dusty) is the giving away of stupid free kicks just by trying to be a 'big' man. The one he gave away when Edwards was having a set shot was just dead-set not on. Should have been a 2 goal turnaround and momentum killer, luckily TDL missed....

The big marks and tackles lift the team, not trying to be 'big man on campus'....

But that was the only negative for him.... ripper game and we look so much better when he is firing.

I loved the way he stuck up for Matt Arnott, may have caused a reversal but that was real team spirit right there!!!!!

I remember that and thought, what the f*** was that for . 3 saints one Tiger and saints came out with the free. Bloody hell. But your right good to see him stand up for biscuit. :thumbsu:

He ran and lead so hard today and it often went unrewarded to. He needs to bring that work rate every week.

I think it won't be long until he puts it all together on a consistent basis

Go and re-read my post, I said he played today the same way he has all year, which is a crucial role for the side but not a dominant role by any stretch. Today he dominated due to a lack of opposition, but did nothing different in terms of his input to every other week. As I said, re-read the post.

He wasn't trying to be a big man, arnott was getting pushed around and he stepped in.

I just think you perspective is wrong.

Fair enough, no one likes to look beyond the surface for negatives and it won't be a popular view, but it is my view. I still think he will be a gun and is on the way up, but today's game will prove to be a one off I think in terms of this season, not a stepping stone to improved output all year.

It appears both last week and this week that he's been given more time in the ruck where he also plays through the midfield. He's getting his hands on the footy and just getting more involved in the game in general. I think its lifting his confidence and he's really becoming a key player in our gameplan.

People forget he is still a baby for a ruckman or ruck/forward and we shouldn't expect to see him approach his peak for another 2-3 years. If the game against the Saints was an indicator of what he'll be like when he matures then we have an absolute star.

I try to make my opinions with as much depth and thought as possible and i have no issue in seeking faults in our players i just think you are viewing things from the wrong angle.
