We really didn't have much luck with the umpires yesterday.

Even on replay, the number of calls and non-calls that went against us were pretty frigging average. At one point even Dwayne Russell (knob that he typically is) said that we just weren't getting the frees we deserved... right after Thompson pushed Barlow in the back during a marking contest in the goal square. (And the umpire was probably 20 metres away with a direct line of sight) For Russell to take our side on anything, it'd surely have to be obvious to most.

We got flogged because we were playing crap, with guys out of position, lacking confidence, a poor game plan and a bunch of other reasons.

But the umpiring did us absolutely no favours. Haven't seen a game that one-sided for a while. Was sh!t.

Needed to vent.

I couldn't even be bothered arguing once I saw Silvagni being put in a chokehold and having his head slammed to the ground, only for the umpires to wave play on.

At least they were erring on the side of letting stuff go, which I much prefer. On replay I didn't think the Barlow one was a free - I wouldn't have been happy if they paid that against one of our defenders.

That was the worst one of the night easily.

That Ibbotson one where he got done for holding the ball despite handballing it into the North guy who knocked it out of bounds was easily another shocker
