we all know that Dal Santo is uncontracted at the end of this year.

does anyone know when he will re-sign? is he looking for more money? will he get caught by GC? and who else is uncontracted besides him and armitage?

Good question Sammm. I am also interested in the younger guns if anyone know

I hope like hell Dal Santo re-signs with us. He is playing the best football of his career right now and was superb against Freo last weekend. Like Milney he has added a tough, defensive edge to his game to go with his sublime skills and I'd rate him in the top 5 or so midfielders in the comp at the moment.

I'm pretty confident Dal will stay with us though, as long as we can get reasonably close to matching any other offers. He's a quality bloke so I can't see him walking out on us just for a bit of extra cash and I'm sure he'll want to stick around now that we're genuine premiership contenders.

unfortunately , so was Ball a quality player, well at least at some point.

The difference between Ball and Dal Santo is that Dal Santo is guaranteed a spot in our best 22. I'm pretty sure Lyon and the club knows how important he is and will be doing everything in their power to keep him at St Kilda.

What is the compensation situation? I read in the paper a month or so back that Geelong may only get pick 26 for the loss of Ablett. What a joke! Then again it did state the AFL are reviewing that since quite a number of clubs would be complaining.

I hope the Gold Coast stays away.

Likewise, pretty sure Armo signed to the end of this year, not worried about Dal at all, he's all class and has no reason to leave whereas Ball had a reason in that we broke him and expected too much of a broken individual. Armo, I would assume would be relishing the chance to play, and chances are if we play finals again he should at least sign a 1 year "extension" while we're "up". The thing with the GC is that by and large when they come into the comp there will be a total heavy reliance upon any seniour player they get because the kids and imports will take time to get the speed and feel of the game even from VFL level (take someone like Nahas and Pods who played VFL, came in had a "burst" period and then in Nahas' case floundered and Pods has only been used as cover basically)

Any seniour player will get far more attention than at any other established club.

I'm not sure about this assumption ( largely by the media ) that they will mainly be targeting players with origins in Queensland. It may be true to some extent but at the end of the day they will be trying to build a competative team and will consider all options.

Article in this morning's Australian and also mentioned by Greg Denham on SEN that Dal Santo very close to signing 3 year deal.

This is good news

Really feel like NDS went into a flat spot in his career (or at least a lot of fans perceived it this way) but since his wake up call season before last, is again in the premier bracket of midfielders

Thanks for the heads-up:

It is believed Dal Santo will agree to a new three-year deal with St Kilda, securing him until at least the end of 2013.

The contract, brokered by leading player agent Ricky Nixon and the Saints, is understood to be "ready to go" and could be announced as early as next month.

But it is known that the Saints have now re-signed almost all of their best players beyond this year, with the exception of Jason Gram, who is working through a contract extension.

I have spoken with the club about this (along with injuries) and they steadfastly refuse to give any other club an advantage by making it easy for them i.e. they can send their spotters out to St Kilda training (for injuries) or maintain a database of contract expiries via the media and leaks from player managers. But we're not going to have this info on the website for all & sundry.

They understand that it is annoying for the supporters, but hope we acknowledge why the club is doing it.

They will selectively announce new contact signings if they believe there is positive publicity for the club as a result.

Fair enough I guess.

Anyone be specific?
'Well known' & 'all the best players' ...
Riewoldt, Montagna, Gilbert, Fisher & Goddard all signed new contracts in the past 18 months. Dal Santo to follow shortly. :thumbsu:

I'm happy with the club's stance on announcing injuries.
