Urgent help/advice needed re possible spyware

I have a question about 54 Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem Router DG834G v3

My friend thinks for some reason that I know everything about computers and came to me with a problem.

She's in a long term relationship that she's wanted to get out of for quite a while but she's been hanging in there because apparently there were recent birthdays and it's coming up to christmas and she didn't want to ruin it for him and his family.

She also said she's been flirting with an ex-boyfriend on facebook and by e-mail over the past few weeks and they're intending to get back together once all is said and done.

The current boyfriend has picked up on the fact that she's not completely happy which she confirmed. He then asked her tonight if there was someone else to which she said she had feelings but nothing had happened.
He apparently flipped out, abused the hell out of her (understandably I guess) and drove off. Then he came back after a few minutes, dumped the above-mentioned router on the table and told her he'd known about this other guy for 3 days because of the router. Then he was gone again.


So, her question to me, which I'm passing on to you guys, is...
Is there anyway this router can be used to spy on what she's been typing?
If so, how would it be done? and what kind of info (screenshots/keystrokes/sites visited etc) would he have?

Is she busted? Or is he bluffing?

in short NO.

it can log URLs but not the data passed thru the router. He could have set it up to log the specific URL for the other guy's facebook, but that would require him to know the specific URL in the first place. Then make the jump about the relationship

He has been peeking at her browsing history and possibly her e-mail.

Yeah, that's what I told her.

Apparently it turns out he just took the router out so she can't talk to the other guy on the internet and was implying that he knew she was talking a lot to someone on the net.

Oh well, looks like she'll get her wish to end the relationship. lol
