Our thoughts go out to all the people in the bushfire area.

Doesnt sound too good for the Lakers and those living in Yea and other areas of the league.

Obviously too early to see what effect this is going to have on the football netball season.

Best wishes to all those in the affected areas.

Spot on Rusty !

The Kinglake, Yarra Glen, Yea & potentially Alex & Thornton/Eildon immediate communities have/are copping a smashing.

The most unbelievable day in living memory and to everyone affected, all the very best from up here in the Olinda Ferny Creek area.

We llok forward to catching up with you all in the next few months, hope all is well !

Our thoughts go out to these people affected by such incredible fires.
I'm from the Northern Football League and played up against Kinglake up until 2008 and although not the most competitive club, they are a club of massive heart to cop beatings and keep getting up to fight another year.

This is their biggest test so far but it is in times like these that we realise football is just a game and peoples livelihood are at risk.

Our prayers go out to Kinglake and all other areas at risk.

Hang in there, look after yourself and each other.

Terrible what has happened this weekend. Many of our players from the Marysville Buxton area have lost their houses and everything. Who knows what will be found in the next couple of days hopefully everybody has pulled through ok. Also terrible what has happened up at Kinglake and we can only hope that they pull through it.

Dont know what to say. Wishing you all the best to the North of us. That strong community spirit that exists in our region is amazing to see.

What do you say after the tragic events on the weekend. A large number of our clubs would have affected players, officials and supporters.

Lets hope our community rallies around all affected - my condolence to all.

I know our league will certainly rally around and help all rebuild.

Having witnessed the horror of 1997 in Ferny Creek, and the sheer unbelievability of what had occurred, I can only empathise with our friends in the North, it seems what they have endured makes surviving Ash Wednesday & 1997 a walk in the park. Be strong. We all know aussies, (especially footy clubs), show their true colours when under adversity. Deepest sympathies and condolensces to those who have lost family & friends.

Just to let all know, by some sheer luck, I believe that Kinglake has all current players are accounted for, but many have lost everything.

Overall that is excellent news. Things can be replaced, people cannot.

Exactly Rusty, that's great news (I hope that same goes for Yea, Alexandra & Thornton/Eildon), but I hope that the news is as good for anyone involved with those clubs just mentioned, and I hope and pray that the toll won't go as high as they're predicting.

I'm involved with Murchison, and we used to play Yea in the KDFL, and we found them to be a good club and the drive to Yea although long, was always pleasant.

It's great to see that the triumph of the human spirit has for the most part won through in this tragic time, and it's great to see that local footy is no exception to this.

Even in their darkest days...you can never under estimate the courage and determination of the MOUNTAIN MEN & WOMEN in our league. All the best to Kinglake, Yea, Yarra Glen & Alex and all clubs / players affected by these devastating fires - keep spirits high...we are all thinking of you.

Great initiative by Warnie the boys at the cricket club and we urge all people in the local area to turn up and do what we can to make the lives of our friends in the north a bit more bearable.

Some good news at this stage at least Yea, Alexs and Thornton/Eldon should be okay.

Yea is surrounded by about 10K of grassland, Alexs is a bit bushy but is on the otherside of the Goulburn River.

Regarding Kinglake & Yarra Glen I'm not sure there are any words that could possiblely help other than I wish all affected the best for the future and hope that they can move on with their lives for they are great communities.

Yeah looks like the fires will miss Thornton ( burning in the hills only about 5km away as the crow flies) but it has done a huge amount of damage to so many in the club. Thornton Eildon footy club gets a large amount of players from the Marysville, Buxton and Narbethong district particularly in the juniors and this area has been decimated by the fire. The club will hold a meeting in the near future to discuss what we can do for the many present and past players that have been affected by this tragedy. Many players, past players, volunteers and families tied up with the club have lost everything and many also have loved ones and friends who have died in the fires or are among the 90 people still missing in Marysville.

But I'm sure everyone will get together and give support to those that need it and we will pull through as will Kinglake, Yarra Glen and all other affected teams.

I have wondered where the boys from Marysville, Buxton and Narbethong played footy.

I would like to offer my thoughts to anyone on Big footy who is affected by the fires, it is a very hard time but as Aussies we'll pull through together. Hopefully Yarra Glen and Kinglake could play for a special trophy im memory of those lost.
