Are you in a position to get both or just the PSVR?
I could probably get both with no issues. I don't really have a huge reason to go one or the other tbh, so I go with a brand I know and love.

Yeah same, I would have to get a new graphics card for my PC, and I don't want to be giving $$ to facebook

i didn't know these were so far along, my friend mentioned a couple of days ago how one of these now has an RRP of 599 and is up for preorder.. first thing i asked were what games will they have but that seemed to be irrelevant... :D

Really hoping No Man's Sky is a launch or close to it for the PSVR

Everything I've read about VR is that you need a min of 60fps to achieve an 'immersive experience' (hence the oculus recommend specs) so how does the PlayStation VR intend to this at 1080p when it struggles to do output 45fps+ 900p for alot of games. Seems like a waste of money at first glance. Am I missing something?

That's $599 US, with shipping it is over $1100 so out of reach to a lot of people.

While it's interesting I think it will be a few gens before i think of investing in one.
I'm more interested in Hololens, i can see that being way more interesting in a gaming world.

The PSVR will have an external computer to do extra processing for the unit

The implications for the Hololens I think will be more readily apparent for more casual users. I see a comeback of table top games with everyone sitting around playing holo board games. Of course that's if its affordable enough.

Will definitely get PSVR for no other reason than just because. Also likely to get Oculus to add to the pile of PC stuff I don't even use anyway yet continue to waste money on.

I just honestly wonder the side effects to health of these things however. I watch a lot of discovery science and stuff and they often show adverse effects when talking about prolonged use of technology like this. Could be a sensual overload. I went to the intrepid museum in NY recently and in the space shuttle pavilion they had some VR stuff and at one time my heart was racing and body reacted like I was really there (was a VR experience of riding a roller coaster on another planet). I'd probably die IRL if I had to play a horror game on one of these bad boys.

I know Quiv hates the entire shoot'em'up genre but REZ was always a special game. VR seems like its natural environment, its one of the most tempting VR releases on that list.

It's also been rumoured that No Man's Sky will have VR capabilities which looms as the killer app that VR needs.
