Hey guys, i am currently in the market for a car and was hoping to gain some information about the Volkswagon Bora. the questions I have is:

- Are they good / reliable cars?

- What are service and parts costs like?

If you have or know someone who has one, your knowledge would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Never had a Bora but the car before my current car was a Passat. Great looking car and very reliable. My dad currently still drives a Passat and has had no major issues with it. I can only assume the quality would be similar with a Bora.

One negative was dealing with Volks Wagon. Absolute pricks of the highest order. Would try to bill me for everything and anything and they were expensive. Probably the main reason my next car wasnt a VW.

A Bora is essentially just a stretched chassis Golf

I've got a 2007 Golf TDI that's done 60,000+ kms. with no issues at all. One service every 12 months (every 6 months for first year) costing between $250-$650 - all standard stuff, no problems to deal with. Still using the original brake pads and didn't change tyres until 55,000 km.

If you can get a TDI engine, do it. Not sluggish at all, 900 km+ on a tank that can be filled for less than $70.

My sister has had a TDI Bora (or the Canadian equivalent) for 8 years. She's done 120,000km with no issues, except for an expensive service at 100,000km to replace the timing belt.

Don't know as much about the petrol engines.
