Most from WA. Good signs.

W.A. has always had a fairly good breeding ground for r.l. As far as I know they are ahead of where we are here in Victoria. It may well be because a lot of their immigrants are from Sth. Africa, England, Wales, etc.

It was a huge shame the Reds were disposed of so quickly.

Just on the topic of their SG Ball team, they beat the Storm last week by 2 pts. with a try conversion in a trial game played in Essendon.
Though I did hear that last try was a forward pass;)

the arl spends a lot on development in wa and sa.
main reason that league development is so low here by comparison.

Victoria is more Rugby then league.
should be noted there is 5 Victorian born players in the storm side

as for the trial game, it isn't as though the storm were playing at full tilt
it was practically an intraclub

Can I have a link to the ARL spending a lot of money in WA & SA please?

Can I have a link to the ARL spending a lot of money in WA & SA please?

basing it on the herald sun report from 2007 (and I doubt the nrl would invest in Victoria now either) which said nrl was investing 500k in both states, and only 100k in vic

also, the promotion of league in sa is much larger then victoria

So .... no links?

Under the National Rugby League partnership it was the responsibility of the Melbourne Storm and their owners to develop the sport in Victoria. Afterall their owners took out 50% of the game's profit every year under the National Rugby League partnership. Admittedly not much development was going on from 1998-2009. But since 2010 there has been good development in Victoria. Under the Australian Rugby League Commission the Melbourne Storm will get $26.5 million a year to promote and develop the sport in Victoria.

Good representation from south of the river there. A lot of promise for the rugby codes down the Rockingham area, I think. Not as firmly AFL-centric.
