Well, I think one thing we can be impressed with about todays game is that our forward line has been functioning very well together with Fev, Kreuze, Walker and Cloke all having an impact. Fisher shocking in front of goal, but we know he can get better.

Had it not been for alot of wayward kicking, it would have looked all the more impressive.

Bring back Eddie Betts as our crumber, and all of a sudden we have a forward structure that looks very potent.

It seems a huge blessing to have two rucks capable of "resting" up forward and making a genuine impact on the scoreboard.

Does this structure have the makings of our next premiership assault?

Gee, the Kreuz is a fantastic kick, I love how he holds it out in front of him and slowly brings it down, as if lining it up through a scope.

We did look pretty potent up there today, with Fevola, Kreuzer, Walker, Fisher and Wiggins. All bring something pretty important to the table, and when Betts returns to the lineup, we'll be even more dangerous up there.

Aside from the kicking on goal, I really thought the forward line functioned very well today.

We will have forward line depth when we get a couple of good players in there including another big power forward, wedon't have depth there at the moment, just a lot of blokes who can play there.

Depth = good players and ok backups, we are playing players of backup quality.

It's funny how much momentum a media comment about our forwardline being one-dimensional gets. One footy journo bleats it, then the next, then the next and then the next, with very few of them having watched the Blues play, or knowing anything about the players on our list. We do have a lot of potential forward options, and because of the improvement/stability in our backline, we now have the luxury of developing players like Walker and Russell as full-time half-forwards. While it would be great to still have JK, there were and still are questions about his mobility, and Kruezer's forward line efforts have been way more impressive thus far. Not convinced that there is a role for a big lumbering CHF in the modern game. Mobility and versatility are more important so that the forward line mix can be adjusted to expose the particular oppositions defensive weaknesses. :)

It was certainly pleasing to see a forward line with more options and those options actually having a go. Such a contrast to the St Kilda or Essendon game where we had no lead up half forwards...now we have Wiggins, Walker, Kreuzer, Fisher and Russell all working up the ground creating an option.

The only negative was that too many times we got in the way of each other e.g i saw Fev, Fisher and Kreuz fly up together in the same pack at least 4 or 5 times.

Only if those "resting" rucks are capable of doing this against good teams on a regular basis.
Port are not good, and neither Cloke nor Kreuzer have performed up forward with any regularity this year.

Andrew Walker really impressed me on the weekend. I said a few weeks ago that I wouldn't mind seeing him have a stint in the forward line and the weekend confirmed why this is a good idea IMO.

He adds versatility to our forward line structure. He can play tall and can mark the ball. All of a sudden it gives us another avenue up forward instead of solely focussing on Fev. Add Wiggins to the equation and we have three forwards who can mark and kick a goal, not to mention a resting ruckman as well.

Not sure what Fish has done this year with his kicking for goal but it has been woeful. Last year he improved his kicking for goal dramatically and this year he has been worse than ever! He really needs to work on his goal kicking if he is going to keep his spot IMO.

Takes his time and settles. He could help a few of the others!

I agree, Matthew Kreuzer has great technique and has kicked quite a few goals, he could help other for sure.
another positive - we're not always kicking it to Fevola,
But, i hope they do kick to him a bit more - when he's one on one so he can bring up the ton :)
