Beth lynch promoted to senior squad replacing snoopy Ross who will miss the season with a foot injury

Beth sister of tom great to see

Nepotism rules! (kidding...welcome Beth!) Thought she was handy in the praccy match - will get better as she gets more familiar with systems and voices - to use a Jackism.... she doesn't often get where the ball ain't. I like that!

Welcome to Tigerland Bethany

Lynch elevated to AFLW primary list
Richmond has made a change to its AFLW list ahead of the 2022 NAB AFL Women’s season.

Athletic defender Bethany Lynch will join the Tigers for the 2022 NAB AFL Women’s season.

Lynch, who played eight games for North Melbourne across three seasons, has been added to the primary list following the movement of Iilish Ross to the Club’s inactive list.

Ross sustained a bone stress injury to her lower leg during the pre-season that is not expected to recover in time for the upcoming season that commences on January 7.

The 22-year-old former first-round selection missed most of her debut season at the Tigers in 2020 through injury but played every game in 2021 as a reliable small defender.

“We are very disappointed for Iilish, who has worked hard to overcome injury issues during her almost three years at the Club,” said Richmond Head of Women’s Football, Kate Sheahan.

“Based on the injuries timeline and Iilish’s history, we have made the decision together with her and our medical team to give the issue time to recover without the pressure of setting a return date for this AFLW season.

Tom Lynch's sister joins Tigers' AFLW team
Oliver Caffrey

An unfortunate injury at Richmond has created an opening for the younger sister of Tom Lynch to join the dual AFL premiership star at the Tigers.
Tom and Bethany Lynch will be just the fourth brother-sister combination to be on AFL and AFLW lists at the same club.

Veteran three-club midfielder Shaun Higgins moved to Geelong last season where his sister Danielle was already a member of the Cats' AFLW squad.
Collingwood's Callum and Tyler Brown are at the Magpies with sister Tarni, while retired Western Bulldogs premiership hero Tom Boyd got to share the Whitten Oval with sibling Tess in 2019.

Bethany Lynch will replace Iilish Ross at Richmond for the 2022 AFLW season after the former first-round pick suffered a bone stress injury in her leg.
Bethany, 24, was previously at North Melbourne after being picked up in the 2018 AFLW rookie draft and has been a member of the Tigers' VFLW program.
"We know that Beth will be able to slot in seamlessly. She was terrific in our practice match against Geelong and has prior AFLW experience," Richmond's women's football boss Kate Sheahan said.
"It is great to be able to bring Beth back home to Richmond and very special to have her and Tom playing at the elite level at the same club.

"Beth has worked very hard to get herself back onto an AFLW list and is fully deserving of another chance, which we are thrilled to be able to give her."

Siblings are becoming more common across the men's and women's leagues, with this year's No.1 AFLW draft pick Charlie Rowbottom the sister of Sydney Swans AFL midfielder James.

Pay her 800k and redo toms co tract

Great offer Marcel - go right ahead if you have the where-with-all - I'm sure the Club will be all ears and work around it sensibly somehow ;)

real shame about Iilish Ross & her season ending injury
that's 2 seasons ruined with bad injuries, thought she played reasonably well last year, hope she gets better soon

Lynch played well in the praccy match, got a bit of the ball, but disposal let her down a bit
will improve with more time with our players, stars have aligned for her to be back at the greatest club in the world with her brother Tom
go well Bethany

She does have ability , like Burchall does some nice things that suggest she’s at the level , unfortunate can’t seem to get the body right

I think they did a great job of picking the worst possible still shot from that video for the front page :(

And where is the family resemblence? :)

Haha blame me.

Think the picture is perfect.

Tom has tuned out and Bethany looks to be daydreaming being somewhere else while mum does all the talking.

Without doubt one of our most improved.

AFLW Pocket Profile: Beth Lynch

She's the sister of Richmond spearhead Tom Lynch, but from working as a nurse to her greatest non-footy lesson, there's plenty you didn't know about Beth Lynch

THERE'S no shortage of talent in the AFLW competition, but there's no shortage of personality either.

As we wrapped up the 2024 AFLW season, AFL.com.au posed some curly questions to a handful of the competition's best players.
Next up is Richmond defender Beth Lynch, who's known for her hard tackling and athleticism.
From her best life lesson to a little-known fact about herself, some of the answers did surprise us.
But there's more to Beth than her footy ability.

What’s your middle name?
May - my mum's nana's middle name and now my niece's middle name as well.

What’s your hometown?

Blairgowrie, Victoria.

What’s your greatest fear?
Getting taken down by Laura McClelland.

I reckon she IS the most improves on the list. When she started she was lost, turned it over frequently and easily psuhed aside. Now she is a terrific player who attacks the ball hard, defends well and is a tidy kick.
